Current Meteor firmware - E52, 5800

    Can anyone tell me what the version of the firmware is on the current batch of E52 and 5800s from Meteor ?

    To check to see what is the latest version of firmware your
    phone can have you can follow the steps below:

    Step 1)
    • Turn the Nokia device off
    • Remove the battery cover and battery from your Nokia device to read the
      7-digit product code located on the white label as shown below:

    or just press *#0000# and it will come up what firmwere version it is !

    Thanks gcgirl. No free Nokia Maps with voice for 5800 buyers then.
    Found out that all E52 can run it without updating firmware.

    you can change the product no and up the firmware to V4 i done it and its good!

    The Firmware can be very easily updated away from Meteor (it's called Debranding).

    You need to download a install a program called Nemesis Service Suite.

    The latest firmware for the Nokia E52 is V 022.009 / 14-10-2009 / RM-469. The EURO (raw) product code is 0568316.

    The latest firmware for the Nokia 5800 is V 40.0.005 / 29-12-2009 / RM-356. The EURO (raw) product code is 0558982.

    Make sure Nokia PC Suite and NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_en.exe is installed but not running.

    Open up NSS and Click Phone Info > Click Read > Tick the Enable box beside Product Code > Changed the Product Code > Click Write.

    Then for testing purposes, disconnect / reconnect it - then read the Product Code again (even change it to all 1's so you know for sure it worked.

    Now, your product code is changed so close NSS and open Nokia Software Updater and check for the latest updates. Don't forget to backup your phone first (not always necessary but to be safe). And bobs your uncle, new Firmware available and no more Meteor branding.
