Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sorry getting a lot of messages from virus protection that to quote" In our tests, we found downloads on this site that some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs."
Given attack on boards at start of year is boards safe to surf on again.

there are banner ads on boards.ie which could be the adware peope are talking about (though not technically adware some AV software report any form of advert as adware)but to answer your question:

the attack, as far as anyone can tell, did not leave behind any malicious code or infection engine to target visitors to the server. If it had, you can be absolutley 100% sure that the owners and staff of boards.ie would never have opened the server up to the public again.

the attack was, instead, targetted at the database side of things and not as a launch pad for infections.

So, yes, boards.ie is safe to surf. It was never really unsafe as the lads pulled th eweb service well before any danger presented itself to the public (a very good and praiseworthy move on their part, too many sites would "wait and see" before making that decision). When I say safe, I mean as safe as any website on the internet can be of course.

if you are getting warning pop-ups when browsing the internet, I would suggest that you run a full scan on you rmachine using Anti-virus and Anti-spyware , preferably while running in safemode if you are a windows user.

Had a quick check on that and its an old ad that was run in a banner from 2006. the link went to the pokersetup.exe referenced.

McAfee should really update their reports as that ad hasnt been run on boards in a long time.

they give the option of owners leaving a comment. Which seems to suggest the onus is on site owners in general to clarify situation rather then MacAfee.
