Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    This might explain her behaviour.

    Show pulled as Twink hospitalised
Stage performer Twink has been forced to cancel a show tonight after being hospitalised earlier today.
Twink was taken to a hospital in Dublin, by ambulance, after becoming unwell shortly after lunchtime today.
She has since been transferred to a second hospital.
It is believed that she had an adverse reaction to some allergy and asthma medication that she was taking.
The opening night of 'Menopause: The Musical', due to take place at the Tivoli tonight, has been cancelled as a result of Twink's illness.
The show's producer Robert C Kelly, who is also acting as a judge on 'Fame: The Musical', said: "I, with the rest of the cast and crew, wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to opening the show with Adele in the next day or two."
Those who purchased tickets for tonight's show can get a refund or exchange tickets by contacting the Tivoli box office directly.

    Me arse.

She sounded pissed/drugged this morning and I'd say she was in no fit state to do any show. It's the usual excuse for these people when they go on a bender.

She may not have been hospitalised for something physical...that doesn't mean to say she wasn't hospitalised.

I'd say people shouldn't make rash judgements about others without having access to the full facts.

Please - no more comments about twink on the show yesterday. I'd remind posters that they are responsible for what they write on boards, and if legal action is taken, it will be against you, and not boards.

that said, I have just listened, and it is hilarious.

Jesus, that Twink interview was painful listening. Good.:D

Gerry was fair quick to change the subject when money was brought up (for once), he didnt know what she was gonna go on about next.

Anyone hear him sing "Welcome, to my World" when talking about Bertie and the FF ministers giving up/holding on to their pensions etc. It was apt both in a financial sense and a FF sense.

The song Gerry's producer played after her interview made me laugh :-)

Miriam O'Callghan and other RTE people have confirmed Gerry Ryan dies of a heart attack on Twitter

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,914 ✭✭✭✭tbh

    standard "guess who died" rumour.

I stress: Not substantiated, no sources confirming it anywhere - you'd imagine if it were true we'd have heard officially by now.

So folks - please don't post it here again.

Taken from Miriam O'Callaghans twitter about rumours of Gerry Ryan.

Tragically it is true. So terribly shocking and sad. Life is just too cruel sometimes. RIP

If you can read this, you're too close!

Did not like him or his show but you have to admit he was a giant of Irish media and still a relatively young man.

His show has run for decades on 2fm and held constantly high listening figures. Myself and the missus were only watching him on tv last night and commented on how heavy he had gotten. He has had a rough past year or two in his personal life. My thoughts are with his family.

    RIP gerry.

    His poor family.

I was not a fan, but he did a lot of good.

    RIP

No, Colm & Jim Jim did an extra hour, then Fiona Looney did 10-12.

As much as I didn't like the man, this is a terrible tragedy for his family.

    RIP.

Grew up listening to him on Night Train when I was young. RIP.

on another thread a poster mentioned that rigormortis has started setting in when picked up by ambulance - so would have passed well before 2pm. ..... call was made maybe around 2 and picked up before 2.30.

either way - RIP.... hard to believe.

I know slagging the guy off was a national past time but the guy was an institution on Irish radio for decades I hope on this particular forum that is respected within reason.

    Very sad, RIP.

    shame

RIP Gerry, I hope you know the slagging was part and parcel of working for RTE.
