What the name of them platfrom shoes? I always see older middle age women wearing them. They have no heel but they are platformed. I think smaller women wear them because they give you about 2''

ugh I hate those.. my mother is desperate for a pair but I've vetoed them for her own good :D

I found two shoe versions here: http://www.danielfootwear.com/sub/91/womens-shoes-wedges.html

Manufacturer of above seems to be "Kelton"?

And these seem to be made by "Daniel"?

You see them in the womens' shoe shops on Grafton Street. I know there's a boutique that sells them in Beechwood as well.

    They're fairly hideous alright.

Argh. They look like those built-up shoes that people who've suffered from Polio have to wear.

No matter how much I protested, my mum got a pair and she lives in them! She was having hip troubles at the time and found them very comfy. Hers are dark patent red so they look good with jeans.

I'm guessing she sees someone about the balance/falls...maybe they can suggest to you suitable types of footwear or at least point you in the right direction, even to a shoe specialist? I know from working kids and adults with balance issues certain footwear is a no go....

Footsolutions in Galway might help, and I know they have stores around the country, worth a shot.
