just heard its the holy cross pub, my mother passed it on the way home. she said she couldn't see any fire just smoke.

Must be a different Holy Cross you're thinkng of Mike , its a very popular place for food and always seems to be busy for lunches .

The roof went on fire looks like they will be closed for a few weeks at least

We passed it around 5pm, there was a big hole in the roof with smoke pouring out through it. A fireman standing on the roof with a hose and several more on the ground with hoses all pointed at the roof, probably to also dampen down the thatch roof around it. The carpark was still full of cars, and shocked looking customers too. Hopefully not too much damage done and no one hurt.

bad enough, rest. has alot of damage mostly due to water and smoke, fingers crossed it will take only a month or two before opening again
