    Character popularity
    • 21 Sagat players
    • 7 Akuma players
    • 4 Rufus players
    • 4 Ryu players
    • 3 Balrog players
    • 3 Ken players
    • 2 Abel players
    • 1 Blanka, C. Viper, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, E. Honda, M. Bison and Zangief player each

El Fuerte, Guile and Vega (Claw) were the only arcade characters not represented here.

    Things of note
A bit inaccurate because Momochi and Shinya both have 2 characters on the list.
Also some of the great players have lost/deleted their cards:

Nemo (Chun-Li): Had around 300,000BP when he deleted his card. Word is that he was getting married and had to stop playing.

Bon-chan (Sagat): Was #2 in the rankings until he lost his card last month. He already has over 60,000BP with his new card

FAX Gimoto (Blanka): had over 120,000BP until he lost his card in December. Used a NO NAME card until 2 weeks ago.

The 21 Sagats is abit depressing. And christ is Mago still far ahead.
Fair play to Uryo and Shiro in getting into the top 10 breaking the shoto stranglehold with their Viper (the only Viper) and Abel respectively.
My god Zangief has fallen from grace with only 1 showing. I still want him nerfed. :D

I suppose the main conclusion we should draw from this is that Guile is overpowered and needs many many nerfs, particularly his ultra which is just too good. :P

    hehe.

Btw though I mean this is top 50 by points and thus how much they play, not that these aint the top guys but in terms of order of appearance, if it was ranked by pure skill would the list be exactly the same?

Not that battle points mean just how good you are, just how many VS battles you play in. We've all seen Daigo mop the floor with Mago and the rest of the top 10 i'm sure before on more than 1 occasion. Also that point about the chap deleting his card with 300k points, it could well be bs, check out LordaborigineSF4 channel on youtube, he has a fully updated list by the week, and i have never seen 300k, or Mago & Daigo moved from #1 & #2 respectively.

And i'm not singing praises because i'm a Daigo fan, but it is true.

Yeh I was quite surprised how low down Iyo is considering his record in Tournaments over there. Too many Sagats too :/

Also I noticed Momochi listed as a Ryu player? I thought Akuma was his main.

Daigo has indeed mopped the floor with Mago a few times but Mago still is an insanely good player.

On the other hand there is several videos on youtube of Daigo loosing to other players in the top 10 such as Shiro, Uryo and Momochi.
If your in the top 10 in that list your seriously good at the game.

I think BP is a good system, it doesnt just mean how much you have played like GP. Anyone who is in the top 50 BP in Japan is a beast. I hope they fix the BP system for ssf4 so you cant cheat it like you can in sf4.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭Dreddybajs

Everyone on that list that I recognise is absolutely ****ing sick at SF4. The BP system is silly and flawed but if you're in the top 50 you are a seriously top quality player.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,910 ✭✭✭Sisko

Indeed, I don't think anyone would disagree with that, its just the order that can be questioned.

In the arcades I don't see a major issue with the BP system. I think it's about the best system that you can have without setting up a governing body.

To be honest the majority of the time I've seen Mago and Daigo fight Mago comes out on top.

I've only seen him lose once tbh i'm not defending Daigo i'm telling the truth.

Aint you and daigo mates in real life or someshit? I reckon he's putting you up to say that.

  • Moderators Posts: 5,558 ✭✭✭Azza

I remember reading a while back that when Daigo first started playing SF IV he wasn't that good it at. People where saying while he had the Sagat match down he would loose to less well known characters like Blanka. Anyway shortly after the games release Daigo dissappeared for a month or two and when he came back he was much much better at the game. Since then he has beaten Mago quite comfortably on nearly all occasions with the possible exception of that gods garden tournament a while back where he also lost to Uyro.

No doubting Daigo appears to have Mago's number but that doesn't mean other people lower down on the least don't have Daigo. Anyway anyone on that list is amazing player.

The only thing is apparantly the true number 1 player has over 1,000,000 BP but the game can't record such a high number so he is not shown. Apparantly the guys name is Terry. :D
