    i'm a novice. I've bought a mini mal board and an o'neill 5/3 suit.

regarding boots, should i be wanting 5mm or 3mm do ye think?

and anyone have opinions on o'neill superfreaks versus ripcurl f-bombs (or any others you might recommend)?

...also, how necessacry are other things like gloves and hooded vests?

    all helpful info much appreciated.

5mm booties for the winter. Depends on your own metabolism for the rest. I don't wear a hood cos it freaks me if I cannot hear the waves but I don't get as cold as some people do. Go thin with the gloves as they will feel like lead. 1.5mm is plenty hot for me in the winter.
