My friend is about to buy a house and has been offered a fixed rate for five years of 4.50%. Should he accept it or go for a variable rate. ? Your views....

They could get a better 5 year fixed rate than 4.5% -

Im sorry I made a mistake. That rate is 4.25 % and not 4.50%.
