Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Speaker system for LG 50PS3000

    Hi Guys,

I am looking to buy a speaker system for my LG TV:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-50PS3000-50-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B001UHMT88

The only output connection for sound that is on the TV is an 'optical digital audio out' so that may limit me to what I can connect to it.

I was thinking of something like this: http://www.ie.pioneer.eu/eur/products/42/99/161/S-V520-W/specs.html but can't tell if it'll work with the digital audio out.

I am willing to spend between 400 - 600 and having a surround sound system doesn't really bother me. I am looking more for quality and clarity. I have HD cable, my PS3 and sometimes my laptop connected to the TV so I use it every day and I am looking for something that will really improve the sound of all three.

Any tips or suggestion would be great.

    Thanks

    OR

    hey,

You are going to need an amplifier to connect your tv,ps3 etc.

Those speakers need to be powered

The speakers that you have picked will need to be powered by an AVR or amp. Within your budget you can get a good avr , something along the lines of a Onkyo TXSR577 which retails for under €350.Which can then be paired with the pioneer system you had chosen. With the AVR you can connect your ps3,nlt/sky,laptop... which will give you surround sound in all if you wish.it also removes all the clutter from around the tv with only one cable going to the tv.Try the richersound guys and they can give ya a couple of systems in different price ranges.
It's an option worth considering anyways. :D

My tip is to only buy speakers from companies that are principally speaker manufacturers, not companies that make every kind of electrical device under the sun.
