Dashboard lights

This may be a trivial thing but how and ever........

I have a 2001 Seat Leon and driving home tonight I noticed the dashboard lights were quite dim. Half way home they suddenly got bright! I replaced the alternator last december and I'm a little worried. Could it just be a simple electrical fault or something sinister? The headlights seemed fine and all the other electronics. Advice please!

    Hi There.

The entire dash cluster is possibly powered via a relay linked to the stalk/switch for your headlights. It's possible that the relay contacts are corroded causing a voltage drop.

It could just be a lose connection. Do you notice the brightness/dimming over bumps?

Thanks for getting back to me! No I don't notice it over bumps, I mostly drive on a motorway though. I will take a closer look when hitting the potholes in the town in the morning :)
