Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You know all these posh shops that have sprung up all over the country
that take your designer clothes and sell them for you.

What do you think of designer wedding dresses (once worn) Would you buy one? perfect condition of course........ let me have your thoughts

Where are all these shops? I have only heard of one in Dublin.

Cork, Galway, maybe just the bigger cities. Any way I'm more interested in the designer once worn wedding dresses.

I think Oxfam have a specialist wedding dress shop in Dublin.

There is an Oxfam shop in Dun Laoghaire that sells designer wedding dresses that are donated by the designers, as they are last season, or they have been used to try on in store and so are dirty.
I went here when I was looking for a dress and would have bought one if a dress had fitted me perfectly, however I would be afraid to buy one that didn't fit because I would have to get it altered and I couldn't be sure that it would work out as I liked.
If you are thinking of opening such a shop you would have to consider if you would pay for the dry cleaning of the dress (mine cost over €100). Also people will be more likely to buy a dress from you if the alterations can be done in the shop- this would be a concern as the dress may not turn out exactly as planned and you might be out of pocket.
I have also heard of a shop in Wicklow I think, that sells second hand designer dresses.
However it is a great idea in these recessionary times as wedding dresses are so over priced. Good luck

I think it would be a great idea. Particularly if you had a dressmaker/seamstress on staff to help with alterations etc.

I'm getting married ... next week... and while I'm not wearing a traditional wedding dress I would've definitely considered nearly new/worn once dresses over new.

You'll always get girls who want a brand new dress regardless of cost but a lot of women are practical too and don't want to invest too much money in a dress that you'll only wear once.

I think those shops and websites are a great idea.

It is a good idea....if you look on weddingsonline a lot of people are selling their dresses...it would make it handier for the people buying and selling to have one location to go to. Maybe check on that forum for interest?
