Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

its possible for something to neither be a free/peno nor a dive

the ref did nothing wrong there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I dont know what the ref did wrong with that goal. As a defender, how do you not stand over that ball until the defence is ready? As a goal keeper, how poor can you be, like he's not old enough to even have played with the old backpass rule.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

I thought Fabianski was gonna pick that up again. :D

Spot on, he was correct, no arguments.

Anyone who does argue needs to read the laws of the game, and get a clue about the game.

Stonewall peno on rosicky just before the goal.

Arsenal really need a midfield enforcer in that team desperately.

Porto are very average, arsenal will destroy them in london.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,692 ✭✭✭✭OPENROAD

    Fabrianski :mad::mad::mad:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,933 ✭✭✭patrickc

rosicky didnt go down easy there.. that was a peno

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

The mistake of picking up the back pass is maybe forgiveable (maybe) but to then give the ball back?!? facepalm_smiley_lg.jpg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,681 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

how many fouls can Porto get away with

    getting ridiculous now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

So it's within the rules to be less than 10 yards away if someone takes a "quick" free kick? Or would it then be a penalty if the Porto player had the pass blocked?

just seen porto's second, right the backpass was a free but disgraceful decision by the ref to allow the quick free kick. same ref that did ireland/france game:eek:

What Ferguson did last night to Jonny Evans, is what Wenger needs to do to Fabianski.

how could it be a peno? lol

its a retaken free, possibly a booking for the player who obsctructed at the refs discretion

    I'm inclined to blame Fabrianski

Thought perhaps the free kick would be advanced, and since the offence took place in the box it could be a penalty.
So standing in front of the ball when someone is looking to take a free kick is against the rules? But he should've done it? Jaysus, I could've sworn I remember people on here the other day about Arsenal, and Fabregas especially, for holding the ball to slow up free kicks and pushing the rules.

We need to be careful a 2-1 defeat may not be that bad.

Can someone explain to me when referees will allow a free kick to be taken quickly and when they won't??

Its the greyest of grey areas to me....

goalkeeper hands the ball to the ref, ref hands the ball to the porto player, porto player takes it straightaway while refs back was turned and without the whistle blowing, surely that cant be right as the ref was kinda assisting the goal:confused:

Why? Because they can. I've never been able to work out any logic or pattern to it.

Does the ref not have to blow, that is what I thought

If the ref says wait, you wait.

If he says nothing, chance your arm and take it quickly.
