Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Jason,

I signed up for the Horizon tv, internet and phone bundle on Friday but have just come across this deal now.

    Thanks!

Hi Jason, I just upgraded to horizon and activated it yesterday evening ,will i have to pay the 45 euro activation fee? Seems a bit unfair that i am going to be charged 45 euro to go on a more expensive package?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi martin1968

This new offer today supercedes all old offers and was not available to sell yesterday in the system. Unfortunately only orders from today ordered online or via boards qualify for the free upgrade to Horizon.

    Hi Jason,

I signed up to Horizon Essential Bundle 5 months ago, I realised UPC soon upped the broadband to 120MB as opposed to the 100MB that I am currently receiving. Would it be possible to get my bb speed bumped up to 120MB or would I have to pay extra? If so, how much would 200MB cost?

    Cheers

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi SeanyMc22

No problem whatsoever. Existing customers can upgrade to the latest Horizon Essential Bundle, and you will get the latest speeds of 120mb. (same price @ €73 p/m)

This will mean that you will be signing up to a new 12 month contract with UPC in this instance.

You can do so by calling 1908, or if you prefer, PM me with your details and I will get you looked after

    Hope that helps

    Hi Jason,

On the terms and conditions, the activation fee applies to new equipment per box (" €45 activation charge will apply per box ordered unless otherwise indicated"), but how does this work with Multi-Room viewing if moving to Horizon? I.e. if I use the Boards offer do I get the main Horizon TV box with no activation but the second box for the multi-room view is charged?

    Thanks!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi Diddy Kong

The free activation applies to your new bundle (for example your new Horizon box that supplies your tv, broadband and phone services) and covers your main connection point, which you self install the box to.

However, if you want extra boxes in other rooms the €45 activation charge applies to each of them. (and if you requiring extra wiring to other rooms that too carries a cost)

    Thanks

    Jason

    Hi all

Just a note to say we have updated the boards offer page, so to access, you must do so via the new link www.upc.ie/boardsoffer

    The offer detail summary:

New customers that order via www.upc.ie/boardsoffer will get reduced price bundles, free activation (Self Installation), and a €50 voucher from either DID Electrical or Carphone Warehouse

Existing UPC customers can upgrade to a new Horizon bundle, also via www.upc.ie/boardsoffer and you will get your new bundle and Horizon bix activated free of charge too.

    Thanks

Jason, the first link in your post is broken.

The correct, working link is: http://www.upc.ie/boardsoffer/

http://www.upc.ie/boardsoffer note the missing / isn't working. Probably should get your website guys to fix that.

Also the new Broadband + TV bundles aren't listed in the offer, which is a pity, they represent good value. For instance Horizon Select Extra 120

Hi Jason, why does the fibre limited go up to €60 after 6 months through the boards offer but only goes up to €53 through the normal website?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi pamweld

It doesn't, as we do not display the Fibre Limited bundle on the boards offer page. We just display the Fibre Bundle (which does go to €60 post offer) and the other Horizon Bundles.

    As per the below:

    Triple Play Bundles:
    1. Fibre Bundle –(Digital Value + TV, 50mb Unlimited Broadband & Phone Free-time World) @ €60 per month plus free activation ( Offer Price is €35 per month for 6 months, a €50 voucher, for new customers only)
    2. Horizon Complete (Horizon Max TV, 200mb Unlimited Broadband & Phone Any-time World) - @ €80 per month plus free activation (Offer Price is €35 per month for 6 months, a €50 voucher, for new customers only)
    3. Horizon Essential -( Horizon Select Extra TV, 120mb Unlimited Broadband & Phone Free-time World) - @ €73 per month plus free activation (Offer Price is €35 per month for 6 months, a €50 voucher, for new customers only)
    4. Horizon Essential Limited -( Horizon Select Extra TV, 120mb (Limited to 30Gb) Broadband & Phone Free-time World) - @ €66 per month plus free activation ( Offer Price is €35 per month for 6 months, a €50 voucher, for new customers only)
    Thanks

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for that info. I just noticed something with my account. Before I signed up to horizon we had a concession on our package as UPC installed a box on the side of our house. I just realised that I have not been getting this concession since signing up to Horizon. Is this something I could take up via PM with yourself or is there a specific department that I need to speak to?

    Thanks,

    Hi Jason,

Does the offer apply to tv+broadband bundle as seen on following link?

    http://www.upc.ie/bundles/tv-broadband/horizon-extra/

Also, it seems that all the bundles are same price for first 6 months and then price changes depending on speed, channels etc... So if I go for a bundle (say horizon-extra) but later decide to change to another bundle (say horizon-extra-limited) will it be possible or will I have to sign a new contract?

For normal usage it should be loads. Depends of your definition of 'crazy amounts' (and 'downloading' - versus streaming), really.

    Hi Sir Gallagher

It absolutely depends on how much you are using it, how many people will access it in your home, and what activity will take place in the home using your connection. If you will stream music or video content, you will consume your bandwidth quickly.

There are some great resources online (not affiliated with UPC) like http://www.broadbandnow.org/resources/data-usage-calculator
that allow you calculate how much usage you are likely to accrue

    Hope that helps

That's disappointing, especially considering what an atrocious piece of crap horizion is. Since setting the box up Friday all the service has done is disappoint. Internet drops out all the time, recordings stop mid way through, subtitles don't work and when they go they're a good 20 seconds behind the dialogue, sound drops out on recordings all the time and half way through watching something the screen will go black and stay that way.

Could i PM you my account number to check and see if my account details have been changed correctly this time. Called UPC the other day about a problem with my internet but the girl told me my last bill wasnt paid even though 3 weeks prior i had called UPC to give my new bank details then got a letter confirming my new details but alas it wasnt changed. Hi,

I am trying to sign up to one of these boards offers for tv and internet but they say I cannot get these offers in my area, I live in grand canal dock?
Is this offer only available in certain areas of Dublin?

I am being told that cause i only have a 30Meg connection in my area i cannot get any of these packages. When I asked where I could review this packages that i could be offered(much more expensive for worse service) I was told that they are not advertised on your website? They are quoting €69 for basic broadband and tv €50 for first 6 months. It seems insnae that i would pay much more for a worse service, why can i not just get one of the 50meg packages on the understanding I will only be able to get 30 meg speeds?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi ruddy1987

Currently we have no 30mb bundles available in the system, so they are unavailable for the reduced price offer, however, we could offer you free activation and the €50 voucher. (as a new customer) If you want to progress with that, please send me a PM, and I will look after it for you.

    Thanks

When I asked where I could review this packages that i could be offered(much more expensive for worse service) I was told that they are not advertised on your website? They are quoting €69 for basic broadband and tv €50 for first 6 months. It seems insnae that i would pay much more for a worse service, why can i not just get one of the 50meg packages on the understanding I will only be able to get 30 meg speeds?

    Hi Jason,

Existing customer here trying to upgrade to Fibre bundle + 1 extra room on multiroom...on the main upc site it lists an activation fee of €45

on the boards offer page it says
Existing customers can also upgrade to a new bundle via this offer too**, and will get Free Activation.
but I don't see anywhere to select multiroom?

Also how do we go about keeping the same phone number (or is that something sorted out after the order automatically)

    Please advise.

    Thanks

I signed up for UPC in September and requested a voucher for carphone warehouse. The initial 6 months of half-price have passed and I still have not received my voucher.

Any help or any way to get the voucher would be appreciated :)

    Hi,

Interested in signing up to the boards offer, new house.

What are the multiroom options as there are a lot of TV points

    Hi there

With UPC, you have 3 options:

If you want a set top box in another room, we charge €11 per month (versus €15 with SKY). This has a €45 activation charge applied, and assumes you have a cable/box in that room to connect to. If you need a room cabled, there is an extra charge of €60.

If you are a Horizon TV & Broadband subscriber, you can stream much of our content onto an ipad/Iphone or Android screen in another room by downloading the Horizon app from the app store. This is free.

If you are a UPC TV & Broadband subscriber, you can stream much of our content onto a PC/Mac in another room by streaming on www.Horizon.tv This is free.

    Hope that helps

    Regards

    Jason

Again, nothing for existing customers – it’s a little unfair to be honest, to see all these great deals and know that if I want to change my broadband provider to UPC (I currently have UPC TV only) I have to pay full whack...
