Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Imagine having Ribery on the left and Robben on the right ?

    Must be great.

Bayern with only one goal at home in the CL this season.

United have been linked with Frey.

He has made two good stops so far.

Whats all the hype with Mario Gomez ?

He was hyped up before Euro 2008 yet didnt bother turning up.

Doesnt seem to have brought his Stuttgart form to Munich.

I hate that refs do that, they should let play go on for a few seconds and see how the situation develops. Same happened in Paris in 06, Giuly put the ball in the back of the net after Lehman fouled Eto'o, that goal should have counted.

Also, lol @ richard keys bringing up the semi final last year and Chelsea fans being annoyed that the ref 'finally' gave a penalty...

Van Bommel way too slow off the line

Apparently, Bayern have only lost one Champions League match in which they have led 1-0 at half-time. That was the famous 1999 final against Manchester United.

Aye, think it was mentioned in either the Uefa or Eurosport match facts aswell.

Both of these teams look like they will struggle against the bigger sides.

    Red card Fiorentina

Robben made a meal of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,476 ✭✭✭✭Ush1

Elbow was high though, but yeah, Robben sells it nicely.

Watching the replays, apparently refeering was awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Sky giving Ovrebo some abuse.

"Horrific" is how they described his display.

Bringing up Barca - Chelsea again.

Saying now he is not up to it.

They have some axe to grind.

The refeereeing was the one pre-match prediction the pundits were always going to get 100% correct.

Though as a Bayern fan I'm relieved...

Shocking by the ref's in both games tonight, two major decisions which may have cost two teams a spot in the quarters, something is gonna have to be done sooner rather than later

And consdering these refs past matches.....

Deserved red card for Gobbi imo...his elbow has absolutely no reason to be there. He was leading with it.

Klose is a more difficult one to call...but red wouldn't be harsh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Van Bommel should have seen red for that two footed tackle.

Not a great week for referees in the Champions League.

Another one of our favourite "celeb because he f*cked up before referees" Tom Henning Ovrebro (that infamous Chelsea - Barcelona game last year) was in charge, and disallowed a perfectly good Munich goal to give them a penalty instead (which they justly scored). See here

Then Klose grabbed the winning away goal in the 89th minute, despite being a shockingly obvious 5 yards offside. See here

Edit: New thread fail. Never saw this one. Apologies.

For anyone interested there's a good rundown (from Bayern fans' perspectives) on the Bayern blog, via the ironically titled site "the offside" ;)
