He would probably sell his granny to tesco if he thought he would get power, but I dont think he is the worst of them, and his sidekick, Joan"Clanging your gonads"Burton seems to be a very straight shooter but I cant see either of them ever holding power, because they are just too straight, and god help us, but we are like that good looking bird who always fancied the "bad boy" who ultimatley broke her heart.Like the Americans, we elect shysters who "talk the talk" and ridicule the decent ones- a bit like the simpsons with flanders. Juxtapose Bush and Bertie, b@ll@xes both, but loved by those who love 'em.

A politician is sucessful if he achieves power- Labour have been out of power for 20 years.

There are not a lot of people here able to quantify Mr Gilmores ambition.

What price has his ambition.
There would not be a huge amount of votes in selling Aer Lingus, and it is quite likely anyway that he'll form a coalition with Labour anyway, so the main worry would be the consequences of such an action once in office. I think this is the main reason it hasn't been done to date by the current government. Every late flight or extra charge for luggage would be blamed on whoever actioned the sale for years after the sale occurred.

Policy wise

I am sure if a politician came to us as a country and said lads right here is the deal I want 1 billion euro , a fresh faced hot woman (or man) for my bed and Aras an Uachterain to live in and no questions about my financial dealings and payable after 12 months and I will have the countries finances sorted and everyone working like they were during the tiger era, people would agree.

So the question I am asking is what skillset does he have - as he can be very honest and leave us in a worse mess than we are in now. Honesty does not mean he is capable of government.

Some people say his close affiliation with the unions would be a huge drawbackto him,

I would certainly be one of those people

All this 'honesty' talk is a little bit vacuous.

people seem to have short memories.

Both Gilmore and Big hair Burton studiously avoided answering clearly all questions of PS pay cutbacks in the weeks leading up to the budget.

Would not give a straight answer under any circumstances, all waffle.

I'm afraid they are not what we need now with that attitude.

Eamonn Gilmore would sell his mother... History has thought us this about him. Labour is not a party that will ever get my vote with the current top structure and thats a shame because I consider myself a socialist.

He has no positive manifesto, he has not an opinion about breaking news and by the time he speaks the issue has moved on.

In my honest opinion he is a coward.

I cannot stand Fianna Failure. However I am sorry to say enda kenny is a fool( Richard bruton is good) and Eamonn gilmore is a gombeen(I cannot think of one person in labour that is good. De rossa is ok but had his time)

This is why despite my hatred and logic I will always vote Fianna Failure as my no.2( My no one is always small and transferes ;))
