Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pre NCT test/service

I have looked for this but can't find a thread like it - sorry if I am repeating the thread.

I have the NCT test next week - 00 Honda Civic 120K. I just got the tracking done and fitted a new tyre this morning. Apart from that I don't plan on doing anything else. The car was serviced about 3 months ago.

My question is this - who sends their car for a NCT pre test with a garage? I have put through a number of cars for the NCT over the years and have never brought the cars to a garage first - I usually let the NCT centre tell me whats wrong (if anything) and fix that specifically.

Is this what most people or do people bring their cars for a pre test first. I have heard many examples of cars failing the NCT after going through one of these pre test services, also garages fixing and charging for things that need not necassarily be done, just wondering what most people do.

Pre Nct tests are a waste of money imo. All they do is replace things that they think might fail, that is not a guarantee it will pass.

Do the simple things like checking the conditions of your tyres, get your wheels tracked, check for blown bulbs and have the headlights aligned and if the car is due a service then get it serviced as normal.

Put it through and let the NCT tell you if anything needs fixing.
