Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I'm looking at Carzone, and seeing different time periods for warranties.

Just wondering what typically is, and isnt covered in these warranties?

For example I heard from someone that some warranties won't cover the clutch or electrical components going?
    Thanks!

Major mechanical items - engine, gearbox, back axle. Items that fail due to wear and tear are excluded normally - brakes, clutch, suspension, tyres etc.

What's covered is what you have written proof of cover for. Tread carefully, and read all the fine print.

    New or used warranty?

New warranty usually is comprehensive ie covers bumper to bumper but will not cover consumables like tyres, batteries, etc.

Used warranty really depends on the terms and conditions applied by the garage offering it. Generally a basic used warranty will only engine and gearbox, it may also include the parts and not labour. In my experience the older the car the less is covered.

Rule of thumb though with a used car warranty is always read the terms and conditions, and above all get it in writing as verbal warranties are usually worthless.

The Kia 7 year warranty only covers
    5 years on paint
    3 years on audio
2 years on battery & service parts.

Other stuff like tyres etc are not covered.
But you do get 7 years on the major components....which is pretty good.

    Limited to 150,000kms too.

Thanks for the respones. I understand to read it carefully, and get it in writing too. It's for a used car from a dealer.

Some places don't cover gear box as can be seen as a wear and tear item or if the customer puts huge wheels on the car they'll pull the gear box out. In general its engine and major mechanical failure. Depends on garage tho
