    Two of my brothers have PS3s on Netopia 2247s and they work fine on NAT Type 2. The only changes they made were to set the firewall to Low (no need to turn it off altogether) and enable uPnP.

    If you enable PPPoE Passthrough on the Netopia you can set up a PPPoE connection to get NAT Type 1 but it's not necessary.
