    lol super furry.

Disappointing as it is, again the correct decision was made. Player safety has to come first

So glad I didn't drive down from dublin again. Bit of a disaster to be honest, no idea when it will be played, it will have to be mid week unless its put off until the week before the league final....

Have family down at the match, not impressed at all.....

God obviously doesn't want tthe game to go ahead :)

You're right but it might have increased the chances for some other counties if this game went ahead. ;)

It will now apparently be played the 7th March according to local stations in Tipp but that hasn't been officially confirmed yet!

Thurles was packed for it tonight people were sickened after travelling again in those conditions myself included... The GAA made a mess of it they should have called it off at between 5 and 6 when the heavy snow started not to have people travelling on bad roads, can't wait to see the reactions in tomorrows papers

    from the rte website

The National Hurling League Division One clash between Tipperary and Kilkenny has fallen victim to the cold weather for the second time in four days.

The original fixture, due to take place last Saturday, was postponed due to heavy snow and a similar snowy scene on Tuesday evening left referee Barry Kelly with no choice but to call the game off.

With free admission to the game, a sizeable crowd had built up by the time the decision was made, but with the pitch frozen, the decision to call off the game was made 30 minutes before throw-in.

Right decision, can't compromise on player safety.

I'm very frustrated after making the trip, albeit only from Clonmel but still, it was time and effort too... The GAA will plead it didn't get bad until late in the evening but I think if there was any chance of worsening conditions they should of called it off earlier in the day. It was on Tipp FM all afternoon, constantly updating us that it was still going ahead.. With modern weather forecasting methods I'm sure a lot of hassle and anxiety could have been saved tonight. Feel bad for the players too, who no doubt would have been togged out and pumped for the second time. Only In Ireland.

And the players would have probably had taken half days from work as well to get ready for the game

i agree. it was very badly handled again by the gaa. i realise the pitch may have been frozen but a decision should have been made earlier.

i seen the tipp lads come into the stadium, they looked really up for it. awful shame.

Should more stadiums use under-soil heating ? I know stadiums are used sparingly during the winter months but still. i mean these systems would pay for themselves after a while given what the gaa make annually.

So we had the Dublin and Meath 4 game epic of 1991. The tipp and limerick thrilogy of 2007, and maybe the tipp and kilkenny, possible 'trilogy' of un-played games of the 2010 league.:D

maybe after 2 failed attempts by tipp to host this game, home advantage should revert to kilkenny?? ;)

it was snowing in Thurles from 130 pm yesterday, at 5pm the snow covered dogs in the street could tell there was going to be no game, but you need the ref there to call it off. Maybe he did as soon as he got there.

I remember those Lim tip games, but, I am afraid the KK Tip game will be poor stuff. Dubs beat tip and KK were poor against offaly. I know they are ring rusty but I think the game will be poor. In 2 weeks Kk play cork, I would expect that to be better- extra few weeks of training should make a difference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 222 ✭✭orlyice

so tipp v kk take 3 today! well looking outside we shouldnt have any snow!

Hopefully it'll live up to be as good a game as it should be!!

Good result from Tipp, dissapointing scenes towards the end. Not often you see managers shoving each other around. Although it got the crowd going well enough!

Well he was the shovee, not the shover. Did seem a bit surprised by the whole thing! Sheedy gave him a good couple of shoves to the chest and had to be pulled away while the ref stepped in.

Going by radio commentary a Kilkenny man made a dangerous pull across a Tipp fella and there was some jostling between Sheedy and Cody after it. Will have to wait to see it on TV later, but it was handbags and I'm sure they will make the peace. A bit of needle is never any real harm as long as it doesn't flare out of control and it didn't in this case. 2 smart characters involved. No harm to rattle Cody a bit I say.

Great to see KK lose, Tipp deserved the win. Strange to see Cody act like that, he seems to be taking up from where he finished last September when he had a 'verbal' go at Marty.

Paraic Maher is sucha class player. Any position he's put in, he performs exceptionally! If only Limerick had a young wan like that at the moment.....

And tommy walsh's point around the 40th minute. I was going for tipp but had to applaud sucha class point like.

He was immense today. Great to say he is so good so young. Years of stout defending ahead of him.

Idiotic post. Did you even see the incident? It's Sheedy that should be ashamed of himself

Maher was unbelievable today, he's as strong as a horse. KK forwards were poor

    T'was harmless.
I was in Semple : and was seated right in front of where the incident happened.

There was a bit of a pileup involving Tipp/Kilkenny players.
Cody and Sheedy were on the line and words were exchanged and Sheedy shoved Cody in the chest.
Cody did not react but stood there and walked toward Sheedy.
    Ref stepped in.
Cody then walked towards the Tipp dug and on his way back to the KK dugout, he bumped against Sheedy.
    Silly stuff.

They shook hands after the game.

The Tipp lad midfield with the yellow helmet who's name slips my mind was my MOTM. :p Maher, Eoin Kelly and Mulhall were very good to.

Haha... Don't overstate it whatever you do.

Well, while it was relatively harmless if anyone should be ashamed it should be Sheedy not Cody. I was repsonding to the blinkered post by Shambo
If Cody did the pushing it would be the main feature on the nine oclock news :)

Shane Mcgrath? (i didn't have a programme but it looked like him and he has a yellow helmet :P)
Yea, i thought he was particularly good in the 2nd half.
But maher was definetly my MOTM.

not to forget your player who whipped on the tipp lad on the ground, tut tut tut.

He only took 2 little shoves and in all fairness probably deserved them with his blinkered view on blatant fouling. trying to influence the referee from giving his player the card he really deserved.

Yeah probably all the usual plamasing from rte, "tip toe round Brian", "Poor Marty will have to be picked off the floor" BS we usually hear. Great great manager and tactician and guy i have great admiration for but to say he was totally blameless today is sheer ludicrous

ffs, 'deserved them for his blinkered view'. Are you nuts? Sheedy stepped well over the line which should be obvious to anyone.

look twas a foul pure and simple. he was moaning to ref. he was pointing toward tipp goal ffs, he wanted a free after his player whipping on the tipp man on the ground. a shove and an f-off will do him the world of good. is he too good to be disagreed with now?

He was acting like any manager does, as you'd expect. Sheedy deciding to start shoving a 55 year old around live on TV wasn't on. Fair dues to Cody for not reacting to it. All hell could have broken loose.

He didn't react cos he was in the wrong. Cody is no wallflower, just ask some of his own players . his rant at Marty wasn't on either. he was asked a question by a reporter and went nuts. hes a big boy and can take it.

a shove and an f-off will do him the world of good

I think this statement says a lot about you

I respect Sheedy, he seems like a genuine passionate hurling man, he was gracious in a very difficult to take defeat last year but I'm sure even he knows he was in the wrong today despite how strongly he disagreed with Cody.

A lot of pathetic posts on the sheedy/cody spat, totally harmless incident to be honest...

From a KK point of view I was very impressed with the defenders, particularly the HB line. Tyrell looked very good at centre back again, but the question is can he be spared from the corner come championship.

i thought the midfield were all at sea, particularly PJ who gave the ball away several times and drove a lot of ball wide.

The forwards were very poor, a lot of aimless passes and some atrocious wides.

Mulhall scored some nice points, but he remains as frustrating as ever and I don't believe he will ever amount to an inter ounty standard hurler. Wile O'dwyer was terrible as usual, don't know why cody persists with him as he wont be around come may or june.

Larkin looked rusty, but it was his first game of the year. The only KK forward who looked good was Rice, was able to win ball, KK suffered badly when he went off injured. The corner forwards were both terrible.

In the end the better team won and I guess Tipp needed the win more than KK did and deserved their won.

Great atmosphere for a league game, 20,000 at the game....
