Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Extremely harsh red card for Negredo.

Shame, was shaping up to be a good game. That could ruin it.

Edit: Hmmmm, was there a slight kick out (think Beckham 98)? Still harsh regardless.

On another note - how good is Jesus Navas? When he is on form there are few better in the world. Love watching him play.

La Liga or Andy Gray's "The last word" tough choice.

Llorente back on peno duties for Bilbao after that disaster against Villarreal last week. Llorente's 18th goal in all comps this season.

The reason for Asenjo instead of De Gea is injury.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭Bukman13

    Well done Asenjo, good save.

Game was over after 20mins, the red card ruined the game as a contest.

Llorente came off after 60mins, rested for Europa League on thursday.

What a save by Asenjo in the lead up to the goal. Then the strike goes through about 4 Atleti players legs.

League season well and truly over now. Europa league and Cope del rey now.

Well the way he plays you could forgiven for thinking he is injured.

This peno goes in the game is over.

FYI, Ronaldo had "Madeira" written on the t-shirt underneath his jersey. It's his hometown, and there was quite a serious landslide there today.

    C. Ronaldo is just ridiculously good at times. I can't remember a time when so many free kicks have been scored in one weekend. Ronaldo, Marquez, Senna, Henry. Crazy.

Higuain can thank that Villareal player for not being sent off. Stupid elbow, could have been a red on it's own, plus kicking the ball away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

Nilmar with an absolutely ****ing CLASS goal just there, amazing inter play with grandad Pires.

    3-2... Game on.

Great free kick, excellent player but I don't think his free kick technique is something else. It's just a good free kick technique.

Hahaha, Real Madrid are ridiculous, they really are the definition of 'we WILL outscore you'. Once this team settles properly they'll be absolutely phenomenal. Higuain is something else.

What I meant is that it's a fantastic technique.

It's completely unique afaik. Well, I never seen any other player use that technique

Higuain! Absolute superstar! The definition of a striker. Pure class

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,068 ✭✭✭Bodhisopha

While the technique is very interesting and often times effective, it's not as if he picks a spot, aims for it and nails it. His freekicks are often, to a large extent, hit and hope.

What are you basing this on? It was widely known while he was at United that he used to practise free taking for hours outside of training, I doubt he still just hits the ball wildly and sees what happens.

Higuain will be a great player, he's Real's most important striker, he has to be special to have displaced Raul.

    Kaka! 5-2. Brilliant.

The Villareal players panic when Ronaldo has the ball and their defence falls to pieces

Yes, he works on that technique and has perfected. He hit's the ball with the intention of it moving a lot before being on target. He just aims to hit the ball on target. Strangely, with the same technique the ball looks like it will move a lot but stay pretty still, like tonight and against Portsmouth.

I bet if there was a way to add up how many yards wide or over a players free kicks were over the course of a season Ronaldo would have won by a country mile last season.

Alonso 6-2. Another penalty. Dive by Ronaldo

This ref needs to be shot

    Never a peno

Was the first one even a peno ?
