Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gerrard was booked for an attempted block of Lescott's clearance.

A little bit harsh if you ask me.

City shading that first half for me. Some awful passing at times from both teams.

Johnson has looked very good in bursts.

I do think that Liverpool have gotten the wings wrong. Would have Babel on the right and Maxi on the left. Just think that Babel would trouble Bridge more than Maxi has.

Skertal should have scored. Looks like it'll finish a draw.

What did Gerrard get booked for at the end, I missed it?

Lucas lay-off to Gerrard was a joke. He constantly plays the ball into space whether anyone is there or not doesn't matter. Nothing new though.

    Late tackle

Gerrard came in late trying to stop Lescott clearing the ball and caught him with his trailing leg. Nothing malicious. One could argue the card was harsh. It definitely looked much worse than it actually was.

Gerrard taking off his jersey at half time, says it all.

These days, they have a fresh kit for the second half usually I believe.

Poor game technically so far. Maxi started ok, but has gone invisible. babel doing ok, but not being used to his strengths at all at all. Lucas passing has been off, though at times, but ball he's picked has been the right option, with the pool receiver not fighting to win a 50/50 ball coming in. Gerrard has been hit and miss, looks motivated one moment and sulky the next. Would like to see a few changes early in the second half, maybe Yossi on for Maxi. And of course Torres on with 20 or so left for either Kuyt or Babel. Also Aquilani on for at least 20 would be nice, probably for Lucas.

The ref is 'homer' with flashing the yellow cards. When football was a mans game, instead of a pansies day out, gerrards tackle would have got a standing ovation tbh.

utter nonsense, he was well late and it was deserved, as was Mascheranos'.

Lucas has been poor alright - Gerrard got booked for sliding in to try block Lescott clearing the ball, there was slight contact an Lescott fell back but it wasn't a booking by any means imo

    Definitely.

Bridge is not particularly good. If Babel could get one on one with him he'd cause him problems.

Love the American advertisements on this stream.

"How did I get fantastic abs? I used the Bender Method..."

    Sounds dodgy.

Liverpool's lack of attacking threat is very worrying when you compare to what City can do at our end of the pitch. They need to start the second half like they did the first. They dominated in terms of possession in the first 20 minutes. Couldn't do much with it though :(

Utter nonsense? He got the ball with his right and slightly made contact with his left. Lescott was up off the ground before Gerrard. Some refs would give a yellow some wouldn't but to claim it was undoubtedly a bookable offense is utter nonsense.

The only thing he got mate, were the ankles of Lescott.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭ilovelamp2000

The main positive for Liverpool is that Torres might come on later.

Midfield isn't working well, Mascherano is covering a lot of ground but giving away too many fouls. Lucas is Lucas. If Maxi's legs were as quick as his mind he'd be very good, but he's ineffective in a team like ours. Kuyt isn't suited to playing up front on his own because of his predilection for dropping deep all the time.

We're a bit of a mess. But we'll still beat Man City.

Better than not at all :D Ye I can't understand that, don't know what Maxi will do for us on the right but he offers **** all on the left
Gerrard taking off his jersey at half time, says it all.

Can't understand the amount of criticism Gerrard is getting, has it become fashionable to give him abuse or something. Even when he's performing poorly by his standards he's still doing better than most out there, ye can't expect him to be bailing us out in every game. If he was giving the ball away as cheaply as Lucas has in this match you'd never hear the end of it but Lucas's mistakes are quickly forgotten

    Wow .....

Ireland with a great chance, puts it wide but he's called offside much to his relief

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,109 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Gerrard, what was the fucking point of that!? Babel racing wide in space, but no he ignores him, does nothing then falls over looking for a free. Stevie, maybe if you actually try to play football instead of falling over like a bitch we might get something more...

every game it seems to be the same, he was never this bad before, but now a game doesn't pass where i'm not screaming at the TV for it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,074 ✭✭✭MoyVilla9

I was going to say "Go home, Ireland", but he's not really welcome there either.. :/

ugh once again the ref is shocking, put a city jersey on him...

also whoever is the commentator, doesnt know the offside rule...

Commentary I'm listening to giving the impression that Gerrard's on his whiney, divey best.

Poor Babel...seeing little tweety birds flying in a circle around his head after that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,900 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

    Wow.

Mascherano just made me admire people who actually make a dive look legit. That was pathetic.

Anyone beginning to relax a little bit more when Liverpool concede a corner? There was a time when there was a 1 in 3 chance a goal would be coming from that.

There should be a "people who complain about diving thread"

i think babel has been our best attacking player, and that isnt saying much. so much is breaking down at the feet of Kuyt...

    I heart Pepe Reina.

It's shocking to see how many players just wait for the ball to come to them instead of actively moving to go and collect the pass
