Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Audio and Video slightly out of sync

I am having sync issues between the audio and image in my home cinema setup.

Its slight but there. i know this as when i turn up the sound on my tv when watching a bluray/dvd, it is ahead of the sound from my surround sound system.

    I have a Samsung BDP-1580 bluray player.
The Image from this goes into a Samsung LE40B650 via HDMI.
The audio goes into a Sony HT-SS100 via optical out.

The AV Sync feature of my surround system only lets me delay the sound, not speed up the sound so that does not help me.

Prob using a HDMI cable to the surround and from the surround to the tv would resolve my problems but in the absence of a spare HDMI cable, is there anything I can do?

You have answered your own question there,
You really should get another HDMI cable, as it will also give you superior uncompressed audio, as you blu ray has a DTS-HD decoder onboard and your amp will accept LPCM passthrough over HDMI.
Optical cable will only give you DVD quality audio.

Firstly, you should not be using both the audio from the sound system and the TV.

Secondly, the SS100 appears to support MPCM audio over HDMI, so if you set your BR player to decode internally and output MPCM then that is the way to do it (obviously turning the sound off on the screen as well).
