It's hard to know which way they'd go, Vice city should be next but they'd hardly just make an updated version of the same game set in the same time and it's hard to imagine it working as well in any other era. They might skip straight to a new san andreas which would be cool.

Back to the 80s would be nice or even the very early 90s.

Better music! (GTA IV's music was crap, only two good song which were One Vision and Jailbreak).

A dark but at the same time good humor story (Like San Andreas).

    Airplanes and police motor bikes.

Well known actors like in VC and SA as characters.

And finally somewhere thats not dull and borning like Liberty City (it was )

The only reason Liberty city seemed dull was because there was so little to do outside of taxi missions. Theres very few ways to earn money, over all it was clearly the best looking in the series and had the best citizens walking around it.

that's what I want to see, more stuff to do, taxi missions, ambulance, the chance to own property and other ways to earn money like buying taxi companies. GTA SA had a pretty perfect setup for replay value there was so much other stuff going on outside of the missions.

    Good story line obviously...

Also I think a good balance between country side and cities would be good like San Andreas.

Because we all like to escape from the needless whore killing.:pac:

I agree though with an upgraded San Andreas. It's my favourite from the lot.

I agree that there should be more sub missions and stuff.

I enjoyed doing the Police Car stuff in GTA IV but once you kill the 'most wanted' then there are no more criminals to chase after.

Speaking of which, has anyone noticed in GTA they always use the worst looking Police cars in the game? They never use the stereotypical police cars that people think of when they generally think of the US:

    Police-Car.gif

They always pick some obscure car design that's only used in small areas (I know that in GTA IV the car design is accurate as that car IS used in NY, but so are the black/white cars and I don't think we got a proper light bar on the roof in any GTA game?). Small detail I know, but seen as Police cars are what you spend 90% of game time looking at, it just bugs me a bit.

I hope they stay in the USA.

    I agree with you...

Personally what id like to see is a game of story changing bye your actions for instance if you begin to, start buyinhg propertys bar, construction compannys or even hostile take over's.. and include your actions within the game, story line. throwing digs if you messed up on your own personal gains mission for extra cash or if your doing well for your self you start getting paid higher and making more money while sdealing with wize guys trying to charge you for protection ... how you deal with the problem shows you secret mission that kinda thing....

I love gta4 its fun... they all are But i think in the next one they should go deeper into, the city with more jobs opening from down load content and or buy update disks byuing in shops the games is so much fun but i do think there chaining there ways with gta 4 .....

God I wish I worked for rockstar....

San Andreas had the right idea.

Yea but of course San Andreas is going to have it right in trems of the black & white police car,the game was set in LA,San Francisco and Las Vegas all of which used black & white as the coulor of there cars.

And I also compleatly disagree that Rockstar should of used the black & white in IV. Like if that was to happen the realisim would be just taken away from it!

I living in the hope it's along the lines of the original GTA3 creating the game engine and the following games building content upon that.

They could keep liberty city going for ages with DLC like have a story about a taxi driver that introduces taxi missions to the game and so on. The GTA series is one of the only games that I will without hesitation buy. I've become jaded by FPS and every other type of game but I still get that same old feeling I got with GTA3 whenever I play any GTA game they just have something about them.

Well in fairness, they did use it in GTA III, which was also a NY based game.

I just think it'd have been nice to throw it in there somewhere. As a spawnable car via cheats or parked at a police station somewhere or something.

    Some guy came up with this and I think it looks great (though I believe the lightbar should be blue and red, not red and red);

    LAPDCruiserGTAIV.jpg

    I also hope that for the next game they make all the lights on emergency vehicles functional. I was just mooching some mods and came across this;

    47179727.jpg

Not knowing much about the creation or graphic work behind games, I always assumed there was some technical reason why the side/back lights on the ambulances didn't light up, but if modders are able to do it then I think Rockstar should've had it in there too. As i say, these are the vehicles you see most of in the game.

I'd also like to see them make the obscure vehicles actually usable. Like, in SA, you could actually pick up trailers on your truck and tow cars and so forth. The forklifts, tow trucks and trucks in IV are useless though. I used to love driving an articulated truck around the place. I'd say it'd have been great fun trying to manouvre IV's streets in an articulated lorry (or just use it to smash the place to bits).

Just seems a bit silly that they put trailers and forklifts in the game, and then dont bother to make them usable (i know you can drive the forklifts, but you can't use the forks).

with the capacity of bluray, they should put another Country, where you have to go on maybe a mission abroad.

Oh and make sure they have Parachutes, oh how I love those parachutes.

Maybe they could also have a 1920's Mafia version with the likes of Capone etc., or if thats too much they could have a mission by where a character thinks back to the 1920's and you get to play out that mission from the 20's.

A mission in another country could be great, sort of like GTA:SA when you went back to Liberty City. They could just make a relatively small area but in a totally different style to whatever the rest of the game is. A few small missions before flying back.

    Airplanes and police motor bikes
    More realistic citizens walking around.
A speedometer and a greater driver intelligence.
More realistic driving features like indicators and fuel consumption.
More ways of making and spending money like out of storyline missions and a greater variation of shops.
Maybe being able to get a “proper” job like in a shop or as a taxi etc.
A greater area of land and mixture of terrain. More ports, countryside, airports etc.
More vehicles (including more bikes, boats and planes)
Maybe gangland wars.( but not necessarily land maybe property or cars)
Being able to access more buildings.

I already posted this on another forum the other day, but I'll post it here too (with a few extra ideas) as its relevant. Forget about San Andreas and Vice City, they need to do something new. I'd like it set in Europe in the mid 90s, maybe England, France and Spain and call it GTA: Europa. They could include small versions of each country with 3 main cities, Madrid, Paris & London, and then a few small rural & coastal towns in each country including a monaco style town which has casinos ect. They could have a channel tunnel between England and France which opens later in the game to bring you to mainland Europe, starting with France then having the Pyrenees separating France and Spain. The story could resemble some Guy Ritchie film or similar films. You start off as a London gangster and work your way up to become a crime lord operating from a resort town in southern Spain. With the amount of British gangster films made they could have lots of stories to base the game on, like Vice City done with Scarface and others. You could also have many different gangs to deal with like The IRA, ETA, African-French gangs, Travellers, Neo-Nazis etc. Also Maurice Chavez or Fernando Martinez could return to host a Spanish radio station. The soundtrack could have 80s and early/mid 90s music (get the rights to use Atlantic 252 and put it in the game?). The reintroduction of planes would be nice too, as would horses like in Red Dead Redemption.

I love both of these ideas as well as the idea of animals roaming around the city/country. (We know rock* can do it after red dead)
Something outside of the US would be awsome for a change. Just dont make it sh1t like GTA:London.
Also it needs to be more like Vice city or san andreas, They had an extra level of awsome. Plus they had huge replay value. IV lost this replay value, despite having a lot more going on and being an all together better and well rounded game.

You have to remember that any game like this set outside of the USA will not sell as well as it should *in* the USA - poor Americans forget that there're other continents and countries out there unless they're invading it for oil truth, justice and the American way

Dunnie's "Europa" idea is top notch though - it could even be episodic or multi-disk to allow for bigger play areas (lets not forget that the XBox is still only DVD).

All I really want is a game that's fun again. GTA IV was not fun. That's not to say it wasn't a good game, but it wasn't even remotely close to being as enjoyable as San Andreas was. And I will shoot any more family members in the head that keep ringing me up to go bowling or drinking or whatever, that was a terrible idea and game mechanic. Nico was a pretty decent character I thought, as were the rest, so I think they've got that side of things well covered. I was just so sick of the "gritty reality" that I never really got properly stuck in to Lost and the Damned and didn't bother with Ballad of Gay Tony.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

I don't know if I'd like it set outside the US, they have the American consumerism comedy spot on, it's something the whole world can understand. I wouldn't think that much outside the UK and Ireland would be in on the 'mockney' parodies.

I just want Vice City 2, that's all.
Didn't bother with Ballad of Gay Tony.

You missed the best GTA since San Andreas (story-wise), you need to play it. Lost and Damned is like it's slow younger brother.

  • Registered Users Posts: 919 ✭✭✭TheTosh

It needs to stay in America because I don't know if I'd be able to get used to driving on the opposite side if it was set in England:pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,017 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I used to be opposed to the idea of GTA set in another country, but I think maybe as a set of flashback missions (ie. if we got to play as Niko in his home country before he came to America rather than just being told about it), or your character visiting there for a few missions, I think it could work great. A downloable episode (like Lost and Damned or Ballad of Gay Tony) could then be set in that country too.

That said, I'm still not sold on the idea of it being in another country for the whole game
