Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can't get my network card to work...

I have a Dell Dimension 5000, the motherboard has an integrated network card. Up until now I've always used a wireless but now I want to use my network card as in my new place the computer is beside the ntl modem - I've been having wireless issues and want to try a wired connection instead

However when I plug out my wireless and plug in my RJ45 cable into the port, nothing happens. I went and downloaded the (XP) drivers from the dell site and installed them successfully

But still nothing. When I go into Device Manager, all that's under Network Adapter is "1934 Net Adapter".

I must be doing something silly so can anyone advice what I can do to activate the network card?
    Thanks

    I'd check

    a) the integrated lan adapter is enabled in your BIOS settings
    b) the device manager says "this device is working"
    c) the network cable definitely works ( against a working pc )
    d) that the firewall isn't enabled too strictly on that lan adapter

If there's any little LED lights on the back of the lan port, that helps to see if there's any activity out of it.

You mean 1394 rather than 1934, but that's the firewire adapter, not the network adapter.
