    Hi there,

Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in, but could anyone give me an even ball park figure of what I'd expect to have an electrician replace the fuse box in a house?
Or is this something that I would need to get the ESB to do?

The existing one is about 30 years old so wanted to replace it with a new one.

    Thanks,

    C :pac:

Its not a job for the esb. They will have to put in your new tails to the meter alight, but replacing the panel is a job for a electrical contractor.

Its very hard to say how much because of the age of the house, its going to take a bit of work to bring it up to spec. A few hundred upwards. Try get someone you know, or that a family memeber would recommend, or check here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055495418

Thanks for the reply & for link Davy :)

I thought it might be an electricians job but because its the bit that connects to the ESB meter wasn't entirely sure if ESB might need to be involved.

    Cheers!

The electrician will have the new tails from the board run to beside the existing meter. Make an appointment with ESBN and they will come and connect them. Only the esb can brake the seals on the meter to connect them.

if installation is 30yrs old or more you'd want an inspection first to see is it suitable for fuseboard upgrade

if wiring is 'pvc' you might get away with fuseboard replacement+remedial work
