Hi all just got a quote of a chap for 255 euro ( not including the paint or varnish) to get the outside of my house painted ( Just the front), the window sills and surrounds and the 3 teak windows sanded and varnished , It is really just the top half that has to be painted as the bottom half of the house is red brick, It is just a standard 3 bed semi. Is this a good price??

    Rgds.

Just make sure the surfaces are prepared. On cheaper jobs they don't and all the paint flakes off again in a few months.

Got a flyer in the door here - €350 for the same - paint not included.

Suppose its ok prices. For €250 to €350 its cheap as legit painters definitely charge more.

Just make sure you quiz the lard out of them before you get them to do the job eg who are they/where are they based/are they proper painters-are they member of any trade associations etc. Have they done any houses in the area-go and look at those houses if they did!

It'd be better if you got the paint then you know its not cheap stuff, then again they might swop it for cheap stuff when they're doing your house and use cheap paint anyway!

As the other person said above, you have to make sure they prepare the surfaces before painting by sanding wood/remove flaking paint etc.
