Vidic being back is excellent! Made some vital interceptions, best one was the time when the WH striker tried to head the ball down for his partner, Vidic going backwards managed to get his head on it and get it out for a corner - brings much needed stability to the backline!

    Great stuff.

Having Nemanja Vidic back was brilliant, he is just ****ing huge.
Scholesy was terrific, dictated the game.
Antonio Valencia has turned out to be a brilliant signing, well done son.
Dimitar Berbatov has one of his best games for United tonight.
    Wayne Rooney.

    Pretty much this. Job done.

Not really Anderson out left was the main concern and that didn't last long.

was great to have Vidic back alright, but disappointed not to see Rio there too, wonder if he is injured, yet again.

Was hoping that Rio and Vidic would have had tonight, the Carling Cup final and the Wolves game to get fully back up to speed for the Milan game.

Not really, The only problems I had were with the goalkeeper and on the left.

Keeper wasn't tested and our left was muck.

Park gave the ball away 16 times at last count. Evra crossed the half way line 3 times.

    before the match
MUTV were showing the players about to go into their dressing rooms and Rio like other players was wearing his tracksuit

not sure does that make a difference or not

    Valencia was yet again fantatsic.

The boy deserves more credit then he is getting. Set up two goals again tonight and another at weekend.

In fairness he is getting nothing but credit.

He is easily the best right winger in the league this season.

Solid player with a good attitude. Would still like to see a bit more emotion from him but thats just from a personal point of view and has nothing to do with his play on the pitch.

    Playing savage stuff alright.

I'm sure there should be an argument about best in the league, but I can't think of anyone even competing with him for some reason...

Valencia already looks a bargain. Excellent first season for him, love the little onfield rapport he has struck up with Rooney.

Lennon only for his injury would be a rival

aaron lennon until his injury was better to be fair.

meh, i prefer Valencia. Lennon is trickier, but his crossing is more hit and hope in comparison to valencia, who I feel places and aims his crosses more.

Lennon can hit great crosses, but generally i feel hit is smacking them across goal rather than aiming for a particular spot.

i'd agree wit you on lennon if we were having this conversation this time last year Mitch, but he'd improved his crossing ten fold this year.

In fairness to Lennon and Mr Alan he was more assists than Valencia this season despite his long term injury, 13 to 8.

Rooney was so unlucky with his half-volley effort. Sublime.

Would it be crazy to suggest that maybe Owen has passed on some heading tips to Rooney.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

well that showed what all of us know.

utd won, so surely Fergie got it pretty right in the end.

    my God, Rooney.

Raging I missed this :( The goals were tasty

Anyone know if it'll be repeated somewhere? I don't have Sky Sports though :(

I'd say the fact that Rooney is training with Owen everyday, could be a factor into Rooney's huge goal tally this season.

Even though Owen may have lost his a bit of his pace, touch and finishing. His movement and positioning is still top class. I'd say Rooney has benefited greatly from this.

Sensational. No striker has a patch on him at the moment. The likes of Higuain and Drogba are both playing excellent but just no where near Rooney

We were never going to get anything out of this and to be honest I'm not bothered. While it's always nice to beat the Mancs or Arsenal etc., we're not gonna get ourselves safe by beating those teams only.
GFZ made the right call in leaving Parker out with him on 9 yellows. Had he got another, it would be two games out and he'd miss the must win game against Bolton at the weekend. Parker is basically our captain in everything but name.

My only hope is this defeat doesn't destroy any of our players' confidence that seemed to be back in abundance in the previous two games.

    COYI!!

Delighted with the performances from Rooney, Berbatov and Valencia particularly, Scholes was very good, Goibson looked like a professional player and park didnt play badly at all

good day at the office really, great to see Vidic come back unscathed and show us what we have been missing, he was excellent tonight

Bad luck for Anderson, sincerely hope its not a long term injury or he may find it hard to get back in the team again....

West Ham were set up wrong imo, played into our hands thankfully, just what we needed after the disappointing weekend

is it that wrong to be cheering for citeh at the weekend?

Edit: i almost forgot! Foster keeps a clean sheet! had a couple of "moments" but nothing major, good game from him too

delighted to see Owen get a goal, do his confidence good, did you see the look of sicken on Rooneys face when it went in!! i know he was clapping but no prizes for guessing what was going through his head :)

That's an interesting thought. Is Owen helping Rooney score more goals? Seems fairly logical, haven't seen anyone put the 2 together before.

this actually wouldn't surprise me one bit.

    excellent call.

i'd love to know if it's true.

Something about his mood, something, something.

    don't go down that road.

as Flah said, if in the mood they're as effective as each other.

the argument in another thread was that Drogba sometimes isn't bothered.

i agree by the way, they're as important as each other. and it's not really worth arguing about.

by the way, could West Ham have played a type of game more suited to Utd?

    my God.

Messi's had a dip for what two weeks? Big whoop, I'd still have him as favourite. All this current form lark, it's European Player of the Year, not month. It's far from over!

Was delighted with the performance from United. Never looked in any trouble really. Delighted to see Berba play well. Valencia just continues to get better and better. i love how even when the full back knows full well what he's going to do he just can't stop him! Speed and strength to burn.

Also happy to see Gibson not do badly. His two passes early in the second half were both sublime and almost created goals. Strange to see him pass up one or two shooting chances though; not like him!

Had a small little wager on three scorecasts tonight. Rooney plus 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0. It's getting like when Ronaldo was scoring all around him. Spread it across two or three likely scores and have Rooney as the goalscorer. With the odds you get, you don't have to get it right every time.
