Possible Job Offer

    Hi,

I have been on the dole since November '09 since I lost my Job due to HSE cut backs. Things are on the up for me now as i have a possible job offer in Dublin ( I had to move home to the country while unemployed as I couldn't pay my rent) the job is in Dublin and I am so excited at the prospect of working again but I have a problem. Due to bank loans and credit card repayments, all my dole money goes to pay those off I and keep them from taking me to court, so I have no money to save.

If I get this position (Which I hope that I do) I won't have the money for a months rent and deposit on a place to stay and no money to live on for the first month until I get paid as I will have to declare to the dole office that I am now working. I have nobody in Dublin that I could crash with and all my savings went on my bills, Loans, credit card etc... I don't want to be a burden on the state any longer and start making a contrbution. Is there somewhere who can help:(. I don't want to miss this great chance of joing the work force again.

    Thanks

Well firstly if you have serious credit card debt maybe looking at getting a new credit card as many give 6 months at 0% interest.
    Or contact www.mabs.ie
If you do get the job offer, the employment contract might be enough to get a bank loan so you can clear the credit card debt and then pack a loan at a manageable rate

Contact your community welfare officer. The golden pages or your local SW office can get you contact details.
They may advance your next SW payment to get your started for rent, travel and other expenses.
It could be tough for you as many jobs are on a monthly salary so a bit of a wait.
So talk to the CWO, they will know. For sure many people have the same issue for you so it's nothing new
