Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hello. I have two bulls with my cows. Limo for heifers and charolais for the bigger and older cows.

this is first year with the Charlo - am told Charolais' normally carry two weeks over time................ anyone have any experience of this.

My uncles charolais brings around 18-19 days.
I dont know if it is charolais in general or just because he is off cf52. I don't have much experience with charolais

The average Charolais is about 2 days less than the average limousin.
To give you an idea, CF52 is 288 days while malibu (mbu) the limousin bull is 290.

You can find these values, under "calving Traits" for the bull on the ICBF website.

    Here is CF52 for example.

BTW - you can use MS Excel to work out the dates, very handy!!

On a different but similar topic....

I heard that cows calve 1 day before, on the day or after there is a change in the moon. i can't think of a logical explanation of why they would so i expect it to be untrue and an "Old wives tale" but when my cows calve, about 90% calve on days like that.
