Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dual layer DVD playback

I'm a newbie to boards so please be patient....

I'm creating some DVD's of home video using PowerDirector7 deluxe. Some of the DVD's will be up to two hours in duration. I want to burn using the DVD HQ setting (full D1 at upto 8kbps) which will result in files greater than 4.7Gb which means I need to go to either dual layer DVD or Bluray (I want to keep the content to one DVD). I'dont want to encode at a lower bitrate as I can notice the resulting picture degradation. I don't want to have to invest in Bluray (yet) so DVD DL seems the answer.

Now my problem is that at present only our Xbox 360 is capable of playing (+ or-) DL DVD's and at at times it stutters as the laser swtiches between the layers (or so I believe). This pause is quite annoying when watching the DVD.

Now my question is for those who regularly watch home burned DL DVD's (not commercially pressed movies) is this a common problem with most commercial DVD players or just the XBox (and possibly older players)???
