Is there a Google Maps distance tool that I can embed on my site?

Hi There,

I need to develop a quick app for somebody thats based around the distance between two points.

I don't have the time to develop something using the GMaps API so i'm wondering, is there a tool readily available that I can put on my website that will output the distance (mi,km) between two points to the page?

I remember playing with the API before and it seemed easy to get the hang of. Does anybody know how much work would be involved in dev'ing a little tool like this?

It looks like something you could do up with just a few lines of code easily enough using the API alright, if you are looking for a control for it you might want something like this: http://en.googlemaps.subgurim.net/descargar.aspx - .NET control

Sorry for the confusion guys..

I am looking for said to tool so I can embed it into a commercial project. I have seen various versions of what I want but I don't think they're available for download..

I was looking around the google maps API and it seems like it wouldn't be that hard to do what I want. The part im stuck on is how to make user insertable/draggable markers.

Has anybody developed maps apps before?

Also, OT but are you allowed to include open source components in a commercial project?

I imagine google will happily licence it to you. No idea about fees though.

Open source licences tend to say that derived works have to carry the same licence, so there will be proprietary rights to the website (yours or your clients), but not to that part of the website.

If you are only looking for as the crow flies, you can use this formula to calculate the distance between two coords (which you could extract from a location on a map very easily).

Below is some messy php code that I quickly wrote a long time ago.
