Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Come on city!!!

now i feel dirty, but in a good way :)

did you see the game CHD?

    did you enjoy it?
No I was seriously hungover and we lost.

Bridge scored to knock Arsenal out of Europe for us, it is only fair he got some respect.

makes more sense, was terribly surprised to think Mancini had made a good decision tactically lol

I enjoyed Bellamys comments at the end of the game, you gotta love that kind of directness, insults Terry without actually saying anything insulting about him :)

"I know what JT is like, nothing surprises me about him, so im not gonna comment about that guy, i think everyone in football knows what hes like"

    brilliant

Hilario is a bit of a joke of a keeper btw

And Mikel is a bit of a joke of a midfielder. United seriously dodged a bullit there.

He will, he is a young DM. Very tough to just be great at that job when so young.

I think Mikel is a liability, and very doubtful he will ever be any good. He doesn't consider himself to be a defensive player, gets forward too much, is a poor tackler, greedy on the ball, and all round decidedly average. In the same league as Kalou, which is NOT a compliment.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,956 ✭✭✭CHD

Kalou has been one of our best performers lately and Mikel is playing well. He is given a tough role.

For sure, looks way out of his depth imo.

Doubt either would make it into the other "top 4" teams, and think we will have to agree to disagree CHD. :D

They would play the same roles they do at Chelsea at the other 3 top 4 clubs imo

As much as it pains me to defend Mikel

He is still young, he has the attributes to be a top player and with time and experience he may well become one, to write him off now is bad judgement imo

look at whichever team you support mate, do you have some younger players on the team who can go either way? i know united have them, to write off Anderson right now would be foolish though plenty have turned on him

writing off Nani by pretty much everyone seems to have been poor judgement too as he has shown in his last few games, players get better with experience and Mikel is well off his peak

He is at a club which will have the structure and calibre of player to allow him to develop if he has the right attitude, imo he could go either way and the jury is still out

EDIT: i will also include examples like Darren Fletcher, Thierry Henry etc.

after Fletch came back from the injury when he was younger it took him a long time to catch back up to the level of development he had been at and plenty said he wasnt good enough for united, im sure 90% of them have now changed their minds

Thierry Henry was warming a bench till Wenger brought him to Arsenal and managed to get the best out of him

    Drogba was a late bloomer

I keep stressing the Fabregas, Messi, Ronaldo, and Rooneys are the exception

most players dont hit such high levels of performance consistently at a young age

    (Chelsea supporter)
He has played over 100 games for Chelsea, so that is a fair bit of time and experience, but I hope I am wrong and he does turn into a decent player.

and has he not improved even a little in his time there?

in any areas of his game?

(i hope your right and he turns out to be cack and the mainstay of Chelseas midfield for the next decade) :p

What attributes? bad passer, bad tackler, bad judgement.

I would look at it the other way.

    For every Fletcher, Henry, etc.

    There is a 1000 Mikels.

Poor Poor Player, 23 in a couple of months so tis not like he is starlet. Won't be in the premier league in 2 seasons and if he is Pompey/Wolves will be his level.

Compelte liabilty. Largely at fault for Citys first goal today, ran away from Bellamy for the second. Terrible Terrible player.

Has the BBC turned into a tablioid organization ?

Just watching the highlights on MOTD and 90% of waht the commentator is on about concerns Wyane Bridge v John Terry.

He cannot stop talking about it, including in the post match interviews.

Is it that big a deal ?

Pretty sure I wont be, I think United will fall apart for first time in years maybe come 3rd. I'm relying on Essien...

Hope Rooney forgets how to play

Was like Carlito was back playing for United again I was jumping up and down so much :D (Well, he was wearing red white and black)
