Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

World Superbikes and Supersports 2010

The new season starts on Sunday in Philip Island and it has the makings of a classic year. There are probably six or seven guys that will feel they have a legitimate chance of the title with Jonathon Rea the second favorate to win it behind Haga. There's a good chance of an Irish double with Eugene Laverty in World Supersports.

I know that the vast majority of interest on this forum is in F1 but if anyone is looking for some great racing this weekend you won't go too far wrong with these races

Yeah it's looking very close isnt it!

Superpole is on at four on Eurosport 2 for anyone else interested. The Ducati's look to have a speed advantage here as they have in the past. The Island has tended to be a track that suits the twins more than the fours but Checa's speed was still a suprise to me, I expect him to fall back a bit in tonights sessions and the works bikes of Haga and Fabrizio to set the pace.

Laverty had a good session this morning in Supersports and even though he wasn't fastest he has to be looked upon as the favorite for Sunday's race. Lascorz showed enormous potential last year but I think the Kawasaki will be lacking over the course of the season but he can fairly wring the neck out of that bike when he needs to and will be a challenger to Laverty and Sofuoglu.

Yeah they'll be showing all the races live again this year unless there is a clash with another series.

Coverage starts tonight at 1 am for race 1, supersports at 2.30 and race 2 at 4.30

watching the wss race here 2 bikes blew up on the same lap laying oil everywhere took another lap before the marshals red flagged it could have been a disaster

2nd race was even better than the 1st well worth staying up for

Three great races, I'm always surprised how circuits like the Island always give us classics!

Haslam was immense in the first race and never put a foot wrong in a great battle with the works Ducati's. Jon Rea had no business finishing fourth in the first race, that bike didnt seem to be underneath him for the second half of the race but he dug very deep to hold off Biaggi and Guinters. In race two Checa was a class apart wasnt he, the gap he bridged was pretty big and every move he attempted he made. Laverty gets his season off to a cracking start as well which was great to see. Roll on Portugal!

A friend of mine told me to have a few quid on Eugene Laverty to win the World Supersport championship , I've tried a few bookies around but they don't have any prices . Does anyone know of any on-line bookies taking bets on it ?

Great first race from Portimao with Biaggi and Haslam having a cracking duel. If anyone has nothing to do for the day sit down and watch Laverty in Supersports and race two

What've I missed, just the first race?

Such a rarity to see Laverty make a mistake like that. In GPs and last year I can only think of two race crashes and one of them was in the wet.

Rea is riding well in the second race

Superb lap wasn't it! He needs to get a win in the race though just to show the mental strength to bounce back, it would take a brave man to bet against him doing it

Great day for the Irish with Rea winning the double. Both showed patience to win and pull away to leave themselves fairly comfortable over the line
