A shopkeeper and his wife were abducted as part of a robbery at a post office in Castlebellingham in Co Louth this morning.

The gang confronted the man as he was out for a walk this morning and took him and his wife hostage at their home in Dunleer in Co Louth.

The man was then told to get money from the post office, which adjoins their shop in Castlebellingham.

He told staff what was happening before leaving the money at a pre-determined location in Castlebellingham for the gang to collect.

It is believed they got away with around €100,000.

The woman was released a short time later and is said to be traumatised but otherwise unharmed.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Scumbags - if they are every caught, they are fcuked for life - and serve them right!
Kidnapping alone carry's a very, very long sentence in this country.
Considering then that they now have to look over their shoulder for the rest of their lifes because of a miserable 100,000 (not a lot when divided amid the scum and if the scum remains in Ireland for the rest of their days), they better dig a big hole for themselves because you can be damn sure the Gardi suspect who is responsible already and will be checking the locations of other criminals at the the same time of the robbery.
By the process of elimination, questioning, doing other things (not saying here - not giving anything away to these scum), sooner or later someone else will grass if only to save their own necks.

You could be right - time will tell and the investigation will be open for some time to come.
