I decided not to bother at the price! TS in the paper did okay with a win and a place.

    Just the one today -

Just a heads up for later, the RTE sports presenter on Morning Ireland named Tom Segal in passing, I have a suspicion he is at Punchestown. RTE radio is covering the event on 252 LW so it might be worth just checking to see if TS pops up as a pundit, he migtht have a few unofficial PW-Es for us :)

Its not really the done thing to post none Pricewise stuff on this thread. Its only because it will get blocked up if everyone does it. I don't mind at all if you want to post your bets on the Bank Builder thread...

The record is on PB's site, so have a look. Just beware, the advised prices are almost impossible to get on.

Maybe its all about the conditions, horses tend to be more reliable when the going is not so much good (though this helps most horses) but predictable.

I dunno if its means anything but in the big Sandown 3.05 handicap tomorrow Lothian Falcon @18/1 who unseated early doors in the Scottish National is being backed off the boards on RP 3335 bets as compared to about 700 for The Package and Just Amazing who head the market.

That started on Tuesday or Wednesday Mike. I wonder was it in the Weekender or something. It was 33/1.

ffs don't tell me Tom has tipped it in the Weekender?

I changed the way I keep track of the tipsters.
    http://pricewiseextra.info/tipsterform-tom-segal/

to try and make it a bit more clear. Its a work in progress so all of them haven't been updated yet.

    Tamarinbleu 3.05 Sandown
(I'm not sure what the other selections are at the moment)

David pipe also picks tamarinbleu as his best chance in the race.

He has a lot of losing weekends but as he says himself , he never has a losing year. The problem I think is the hype. When he tips a 20/1 winner its headlines. When he tips 20 consecutive losers ,no mention, but he is the best, and he does make a profit.

Today I did one bet, a canadian of "expert" pickers and two top speed ratings. Not one of them even placed. Roll on May.

Yes. I will post his reasons for the picks after the morning line is over.

    See the Update

Last month was a bit of a disaster for his newspaper tips. Lets hope May is a lot better. 2 wins from 34 bets wasn't good. http://pricewiseextra.info/april-mini-report/

Sorry how does ante post work??

    Thanks.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,968 ✭✭✭✭mike65

The really big races are priced up weeks, even months in advance. Obviously you are taking a chance in that the horse may not actually run but a tipster might spot a horse at a decent price that will shorten by the time of the race. The best sort of ante-post is when a horse still has a run between the tip and the race which is won or works out impressively and then the price halves overnight and you think "yay I got a good price"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 635 ✭✭✭agentgreen

    Cool thanks!!!

Ante-Post betting is betting on a race in the future, usually a big race. When you see "Ante-Post Rules Apply" it means that if you back a horse to win such a race, and it does not take part, you're bet is not refunded like a regular non-runner, but is a losing bet. The flip side of the coin is that by backing Ante-Post horses, you can get bigger prices as there is more risk involved on your part.

    Rats, redundant post now!

Sorry for all the questions but where and when does Awzaan and Pollenator run?

    Thanks.

It kind of sounds like a bad idea backing ante post but Pricewise tipped
Sea The Stars at 25/1 last year for the Guineas
Imperial Commander at 16/1 for the Gold Cup.
Soldatini at 16/1 for the Triumph Hurdle.
