Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was thinking of using sexed semen in AI for my pedigree cattle and was wondering if any of you found it successful or a waste of time. It would be very handy for me knowing the sex

I am in limbo as to whether i should potentially throw some money away to test it and find out if it works or not or just not waste my money.

I haven't decided on the company yet.

I was reading a few articles and came across a test of sexed semen.
498 cows were served using female sexed straws and 57% of the calves were scanned as heifer calves. The result when calving is finished is expected to be from 53% to 62% heifers, which isn't that good.

thats the new female advantage scheme your refering to , its biased semen but not sexed , on the plus side , conception rates are not reduced which is the biggest drawback with sexed semen

Having used sexed semen once, i can only say don't even think about it.
Used it on 15 maiden heifers, and had 2 calves, a bull and a heifer. The mechanical processing that it goes through is just too hard on the semen.

think the female advantage scheme semen is only an extra e6 -e7 a straw
