    Flanagans Bar I believe.

They are painting the front of it today, so I suppose it's not that far from opening. I imagine they'll try to attract the Bourkes/Aubars/Mickeys crowd now.

Cheers. Was not a customer in their Parnell street store, but I hated the idea of another business closing in Limerick, so good to hear they just relocated.

The Chamber of Commerce has to take some of the flak here. It should be encouraging businesses to use online methods of attracting footfall to the City.

I don't read newsprint that much, I listen to national radio stations. It's on sites like this, facebook and RTE news that I find out what's going on. Many older business aren't capable of understanding this without being advised.

I know some of those businesses now have new outlets in their place but it doesn't necessarily mean that it is the same people/owners working there. The fact that over 100 places have closed in and around the city in that space of time is truly shocking. Some of it is due to poor advertising or planning etc but the fact remains that people have less and less money in their pockets these days and it looks like things are only getting worse with more and more unfair and immoral taxes on the way.

This is the price we pay for our last Government socialising the losses of private banks. It is utterly wrong.

Can I just say I am one of the pregnant posters who got burnt by Babyworld in Limerick.
I had no clue they were shut, no phone call or anything........... I had a large deposit left on a buggy to be collected this month as I am due in Sept.

I went to collect it today from there shop beside Ton's of Fun, and its closed, there was a frame of a quinny just in side the door the rest was box's etc.

I am very upset as I have to find the same make of buggy again and worse still pay the full price even though I had paid half it off already.

I have always found McMahons Babyworld great to deal with and I'm sad that its closed........... but as someone who runs her own business and had tax diffculties in the past, the revenue just don't close a business with out warning.

I will send you on my personal contact details. I know we tried to contact everyone and sort customers out. We contacted everyone we could, without looking at the exact details I cant say why you were not contacted. We did our best to ensure no one got "burned". As far as I am aware every customer either got their stuff, something similar after talking to them, or a refund. We may have missed 1 or 2. I/We will sort it.

Well done nutboy, lot of other people wouldn't have posted they were affiliated in the first place, while even less would try to sort out issues. Take a bow!

Don't think it was mentioned here but HSS Hire that was on Wickham Street and adjoining out the other side onto Upper Gerald Griffin Street is closed down in town now too for the last few weeks and has moved out to one of the business parks. The one with the NCT as far as I know. I know they have only moved somewhere else but its still another business gone from the city centre.

Also "Euro 2" one of the smaller 2 euro shops on William Street has closed down.

The pound shop is no great loss, only ever saw the same two people working and opens up the unit to a better tenant!

In fairness places like Tool hire were always better off where parking was easier.

Talk on twitter of this thread. Limerick Coordination Office not happy about it as "many" of the businesses listed have since reopened.

just because they reopened doesn't mean that they didn't close in the first place, I think it is a good idea to record this info, showing what businesses arent making it.
