Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How do you get to work?

I used to drive the short journey from home to work & back again in the evenings. I now cycle, I feel a lot better for it too, feel more 'fresh' and awake after arriving in to work!

Also, I can cycle to and from work in about 15 - 20 mins each way, while it would take the same amount of time (if not longer) in the car. Also, as I'm now cycling - the OH (who doesn't drive at present) now has to walk the short journey home from her job in the evenings.

If my job had proper shower & changing facilities I'd consider jogging to and from work some days also. But that's not happening at the moment.

I've only started cycling in the last couple of months and the main thing I've noticed is the state of the roads & lack of proper cycle lanes (away from traffic!)

So I was just wondering who out there uses their car un-necessarily, and would you consider the cycle to work scheme for example?

Also, has anyone had experiences in foriegn countries / cities where they have a good cycling infrastructure - and why do you think we don't have one in Ireland?

I used to cycle from city centre to Blackrock (and back) it was shocking how much faster I would move than anyone driving. Cycling is still my preferred mode of transport, I just have a much shorter commute these days.

It's true, the state of the roads and inadequate cycling facilities are awful. In Paris they have cycle lanes segregated from pedestrians and traffic, we need something similar here. I have noticed a strange phenomenon in this country: If there is a cycle lane and a footpath side by side (on the footpath) pedestrians will almost always walk on the cycle lane and cyclists will cycle on the path. A little fencing off of cycle lanes would do wonders.

I used to cycle the 2km to work but my bike got robbed :(

I now drive, which I admit is bad, but I drive straight to the gym 3-4 days a week which is a journey I'd have to drive from home anyway so not so bad.

I'm not gettin up half an hour earlier to walk and getting a bus would probably take 30-40 mins for an 6-8 min drive
