    Really? Are they bad?

Look at the mileage, the NCT, the SHINE!
    Are they a nightmare?

    /Am getting desperate now.

    Really? Are they bad?

Tall, short wheel base. Will make you feel sea sick. Engine is too buzzy for my liking too. Look for a Fiesta 1.25 zetec. They take a lot of beating. Also I wouldn't pay that price for the Matiz.

I know the mileage is low, but you can bet it didnt have a yearly service and there could be items need replacing due to age more so than wear.

The Matiz is a horrid little car, but it's not "bad", just cheap and nasty.

Having said that, that particular Matiz looks like the car of an old Biddy that only ever drove to church and back in it (probably in 1st gear :D).

That thing is practically new and unused and should be well worth looking at.

Take it for a good test drive and see if you can live with it despite it being horrid

What do you mean by "buzzy"?

    Sorry, am clueless.

Small engine that needs to be thrashed to move at any decent pace. Not good on the ears

    Right.

I'm just looking for something to get me around town - no hard driving by any means.

    Would it do me?

You need serious help it seems. I seen your other thread, you should stick with the polo, it would be a far better car & will hold its value a lot more than that way overpriced little box. Polo for the win

I will say this about the Matiz bucket, deceptively roomey inside.

Peasant, are you as bored of this as I am? :D

I'll ask my "man who knows about cars" to have a look.

I could probably be classed as an old biddy, but without the mass bit - sounds perfect.

No. It will not do you. Honestly, I don't know you, but you deserve better

I would still go with anything else. Well bar a Hyundai Atoz. That's another complete sh1t box.

Fiesta or Clio would be good dependable cars and you'll still have plenty of choice in that price range. Had one of each in the family over the years and no real problems at all (had absolutely nothing in my old Fiesta as far as I recall)

    Would it do me?

Small cars with low mileage and new NCT are always sought after.
Buy this thing, drive it for two years, get a new NCT (which shouldn't be an issue really) and sell it for 1200-1500 then ...cheap motoring.

Would it do you? Go and find out, make up your own mind.
If you listen to all the opinions on here you will never find a car.
It's you who has to be happy with it, not the forum :D

Do you live in Ireland? Then you need a 1.3/ 1.4 hatch minimum...

Don't look at cars just because they appear cheap and low commitment. For 2k you can get a car suitable for your needs with no more commitment, that will be reliable and appropriate for driving in this country. eg Corolla 1.3

Mileage too high. Doesn't appear to be a careful lady owner either...

I know, I've seen loads of cars now that you lot have shot down! It seems daft not to ask here for advice though..

    Oh dear.

That may be an exception - that engine apparantly doesn't handle mileage too well. Could be a money pit. Also looks a bit rough to me. Plus the description is pulling the p1ss

Please don't buy Matiz, just don't.

I owned one 3½ years, it is awful car all the way and lot of problems.

relaible and capable, not ugly, affordable to own and run...

Unless the thing was clocked by the most ambitious fraudster in history, thats a feckin great buy.

My Mother-in-law bought one new in '00, its got over 100k on it now and has never needed any major work.

The down side is that it feels like you're driving a kitchen table on trolley wheels. The seating position is similar and the PS is very light with no feedback.

Fine car for decent roads / around town, not so good on dirt tracks.

Ok I have found your car, Stop searching. I have never recommended a fiesta to anyone, don't know much about them tbh, but it seems like quite a good car at a reasonable price.

    Forget the matiz.

    That's a car for people who don't use boards.ie

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,822 ✭✭✭✭EPM

I would be of the view the kindest thing you could do with the matiz would be to let an elephant sit on it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20 00_ghost_27

Yeah forget the matiz anyway, the fiesta seems good, but don't buy it because i say so (Disclaimer) . May be worth a look though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,465 ✭✭✭✭cantdecide

There are 1000 good cars for you to consider, not all fiestas. Not necessarily this fiesta. Cars like these are all over the country.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,392 ✭✭✭TequilaMockingBird

Can you get me one please? I'm fed up looking.

Rang about the Fiesta, nice bloke, waiting to see what he comes back with.

Sligo. Have Learners Permit so don't want to have to travel far.

(Can I steal your user name :p)

    Me too.

I rang about the Clio, waiting to hear back. The Ibiza looked a bit boy racer for this ould mammy :D

boy racer? That looks very conservative- five dor hatch with plastic wheel trims. So the colour is a bit loud but come on, that looks like a nice little car...

I'd give high mileage Renaults a miss. You'll find at best, they're very hit and miss once there's mileage on...
