Shooting a film next week and I need a good old postbox like the one below for the final scene.

A quiet location would be good, the nearer to D8 the better.
    Any suggestions?

    Opposite Kevin St Garda Station,
    Leonards Corner Post Office,
Inchicore on Emmet Road near the Eurospar,

Afaik they're all the same as the one you posted above, only thing is they're all busy spots. If memory serves me right there's a few on the sides roads down off the canal around Harolds Cross.

If I happen to see any on my travels I'll post here.

Does it have to be just like the one in the photo ie. an old British post box that was simply painted from red to green after the formation of the state. You can tell it's British because it's got an Edwardian crest on it. The post boxes after the formation of the state look similar but they have the P&T logo on them.

That one is gone about 100 years-a while since you have been around there.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

The design of the postbox isn't too important, just the colour and general shape.

The one in Inchicore is nearest to me, but the road is probably too busy.
I'll check out some of the others this evening.

    Thanks!

This one is outside the National School on Ballyfermot Road beside the R.C Church of the Assumption. I know it's not Dublin 8 though!

You still don't state whether you want an old Irish one or a British one. The one in your picture is British and many of the older ones in Dublin are British, either Victoria (VR), Edward VII (ER) or George V(GR).

BTW, the oldest postbox in the country near Dublin 8 - Collins Barracks.

There is a postbox like that outside St Johns Lane Church on Thomas Street, Dublin 8.

I know its not Dublin 8 but there is one in Mount Merrion down the part of the way of a cul de sac. Quiet enough road.

It's on Ballyfermot Rd between the Kylemore Roundabout and Garryowen Rd, outside the schools (on the same side as the schools). If you are driving you may miss it, but it's there! :D

If those are the old postboxes than what do the 'new' postboxes look like? I only know of postboxes that are those cylinder shapes

    They're box"y" type ones.

I'm sure the oldest post box is in Cork, in Kent Station :)

Don't forget to paint it red if the film is set pre-1922.
