Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

First time posting in this forum so I hope this is in the right place.

I want to watch a .avi film but it's a foreign film. I've downloaded a .srt file which apparently contains the english subtitles but I don't know how to open this file or how to integrate it with the film. Help!

What are you using to play the film? If its VLC player then you just make sure the .srt file and the movie file is in the same directory.

..with VLC, just dump it in the same folder, make sure the .srt has *exactly* the same file name as the film\.avi.

Select the subtitles by going to the toolbar: Video > Subtitles Track

Just to add, if you have a DVD player that can play DivX XviD etc.. make sure the .srt and .avi have exactly the same name, dump them on a DVD and play. The Player will usually pick up on the .srt, as it does with my budget Philips (DVP 5100) player.

Thanks guys. I've just downloaded VLC player and now the subtitles are working perfectly. I was previously using Windows Media Player but think I'll be using the superior VLC player from now on.

KMPlayer is superior to VLC in every way (IMO). Much easier to deal with subtitle files, doesn't need to be named the same as the movie file, and it's much easier to adjust if they're out of sync.

I don't think there is anything VLC does better than KMPlayer (though I stand to be corrected).
