    Hi All

I was talking to someone today and said the vendor in a private sale is legally obliged to provide a 3-month warranty.

Is there any truth to this?

Buyer beware and all that jazz.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

The only protection the buyer has is if the seller has lied (and the buyer can prove this :D)

If you can prove that the seller knowingly knew of a fault related to safety then you might - just might - have a case. In order for this to hold up you would probably need to produce a disclaimer drafted by a repairer/dealer and signed by the seller acknowledging the defect and then you would also need to prove that the seller made no attempt to have it repaired elsewhere.

So, in short, the answer to your question is an emphatic 'NO'.

I always gave an otg warranty with any private sale I made. OTG = Out the gate btw.
