    I must say I was impressed with Dublin, I have them down as serious All Irl contenders now.

    Dubs after playing 5 weekends in a row, I can't help but think of those Waterford fans who are adamant that the only reason we beat them in the 2007 semi final was because they played the previous two weekends, maybe now they'll finally realise the better team won on the day.

    I always said that was a pile of poo.

    They were the better team, but we caught them on the day ,, it had nothing to do with 2 matches as you rightly point out.

    It's not as wide open as it would be if KK had been knocked out last night.

    I can just see them growing stronger and stronger, and by the time they hit Croke Park, they'll be at their peak... not sure any of the other teams can match a full-strength Kilkenny. Maybe Waterford will do everyone a favour and produce a massive shock.

    Saw them yesterday in some of the group games at Monaleen. Very strong and powerful team for U14. Plenty lads that wouldn't be out of place at U16.
    Caps off a great day for the Dubs.

    Absolutely vital we beat Cork. If we win on Sunday wed play Galway or Clare (assuming Kk beat Waterford) in an AI semi (also assuming provincial finals can't be repeated but provincial semis could ie dub Kk rater than Dub Galway)

    I think you are wrong there.If Limerick win them and Dublin are on one side.

    Clare should beat wexford.But if Clare beat Galway and Kilkenny were to beat Cork in a q final then kilkenny could not play Dublin again so it would be Kilkenny v limerick.
    If galway won then it would be galway and KK in a draw against Dublin or limerick as both KK and galway have already played the dubs.

    If Clare win their side of the draw they will be playing dubs more than likely even though a lot of hurling before its decided.

    Not sure if they'd have a draw to be honest. I'd imagine they'd repeat a provincial semi final before a provincial final. Maybe it would be a draw though who knows. Realistically Clare and Kk will get through next weekend but there's a lot of hurling to be played between now and August. It will be a great July of hurling

    Assuming that there are no upsets in the next round of qualifiers, Kilkenny and Clare should make it to the quarter finals.

    So, if we lose next weekend, All-Ireland quarter finals will be;

    Galway -v- (Clare or Kilkenny)
    Limerick -v- (Clare or Kilkenny)
    Open draw, a 50:50 chance of meeting a Kilkenny team with the momentum of two good wins over Tipp and Waterford behind them; regardless of who we face in the quarter final, if we win Dublin will await us in the semi final.

    And, if we win next weekend, All-Ireland quarter finals will be;
    Galway -v- Clare
    Cork -v- Kilkenny

    Hard to call who would meet us in the semi final, Cork are the only team we can be kept apart from.
    It would all hinge on the Cork/Kilkenny game, a Cork win and we meet Clare or Galway.
    A Kilkenny win, two scenarios;
    1) If Galway win, semi finals are (DUB v KLK) and (LIM v GAL)
    *(In this case, Dublin have already played both Kilkenny and Galway, provincial finalists are kept apart in this case meaning Dublin would meet Kilkenny, and not Galway who they defeated in the Leinster final)
    2) If Clare win, semi finals are (DUB v CLA) and (LIM v KLK)

    So as you can see above, many permutations, far from straight forward yet!

    There's an all ireland final place up for grabs either way. Main thing is to try and avoid KK. Next weekend v Waterford could see them at their most vulnerable.

    Agree. A lot of clubs will have their meetings tonight Tue or wed to distribute tickets. A lot of people could be disappointed in the clubs (lack of family tickets/stand tickets) so families might swoop on the remaining Terrace tickets

    Weather is going to be good as well, so no worries with rain etc.

    Did the GAA get the go ahead with their beer tent plan inside the ground?

    Well it just means another big pay day for the pubs close by, and no one can begrudge them. We didn't get a big match in years, and 3 or 4 this year.

    Jerome o Connell from the Leader tweeted earlier saying that there was just over 2000 city end terrace tickets left and they can be got from the gaelic grounds office between 10 and 5

    There just isn't enough of them close by, it was next to impossible to get a drink before the Tipp/Limerick game and that only had an attendance of 20k, the loss of the Davin Arms has been a disaster.

    The Ardhu (on front of old Ryan Hotel) is right beside Gaelic Grounds at City End and has a huge beer garden

    You hear this a lot from people and it irks me. If limerick/cork or whoever, don't think they are capable of beating Kilkenny, they and their fans should not bother turning up. Kilkenny are not the team they were 3 or 4 years ago, that is for certain. Quite a lot of mileage in that squad of players and still heavily reliant on Shefflin. Dublin and Galway have shown they are beatable if the right system is employed. Dublin dragged them all over the place in Portlaoise with quick diagonal ball to their forwards. They also ran at them and took on the KK backs. James Woodlock for Tipp made huge inroads into their defence when he ran at them last weekend. Scored a good point and created one if not two goal opportunities. Most importantly both Tipp and Dublin (and Galway last year) hurled KK man to man, none of this dropping a man back into defence as a sweeper - that just plays right into Kilkenny's hands.

    So lets hope for a clash with KK sooner rather than later. Wanting to avoid them just shows you think you're not good enough to beat them. And I think both cork and limerick are. If you want to be the best, you'll have to beat the best.

    It was an absolute shambles for the Tipp game, 3 lads behind the bar, hundreds trying to get served, we even had to change the tellys over to the KK/Offaly as they had golf on! kitchen staff and security standing aound scratching their holes while the outside taps were not being used.......:eek:
