Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey folks,
I need to buy a psu for my WD 1TB Mybook. For a week or so, I've been using one from another external, but want to stop having to swap, lost the other one in house moving.
But I've been trying to find out the right voltage and amperage for it, and I'm having a b1tch of a time, as all my friends that have hard drives, seem to just swap whatever psu they have on hand, in to any drive they want, and they've all different power outputs.
So my question is this - Can I do any damage to my external using any old psu, providing that it's from any old external I have lying around? Or does it have to be model specific?

You can indeed do some serious damage by using a adaptor which dosen't have pretty much the same voltage and amperage. WD are usually pretty good to deal with though, send them a email or a quick call and they might send one to you in the post.

Ensure the power supply has the correct voltage. Any current above what is needed is OK. Of course you will need the correct sized power connector.

You best bet might be to source a suitable replacement power cable on ebay.
