Whats the legality on driving a motor bike?

Don't really know much about bikes but that comment was more about the K1's reputation for being a short wheelbase bitch to handle. The Fireblade is supposed to have the most forgiving handling and most comfortable riding position of the supersports bikes. I think there's better options out there now, but from what I hear it's the best option in my price range.

Supersporst are 600s, Blades are superbikes.

The current blade is forgiving compared to a K1 but the older models (esp the 16in fronted bikes) are much more of a handful.

The K1 is a very sweet handling bike (one of the best, I don't know where you got the idea that it's a bitch to handle ) it has ferocious turn in compared to most bikes but it's a little slap happy on uneven surfaces, just like all blades btw. I have experience of both I'd go for the blade though.
