Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

my brother arrives home from abroad in a few weeks he is looking for a car, and his max budget is €14500 approx for a car.

im not really sure what to recommend, i was half thinking a 07/08 diesel avensis old model.

can anyone recommend a car for that budget.

    thanks.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

How can we recommend a car if we don't know what your brothers' requirements / priorities are?

If I was your brother, I would never talk to you again if you spent 14k of my money on any Avensis.

There is a huge range of cars that could be had for that price. Its really down to your brothers taste in cars & how old he is willing to go. There are many more imaginative options than an avensis

It all depends on what he wants/needs, if one car was right for everyone then we'd all be driving it.;)

You could get a nice Mazda RX-8 for that price, low milage etc. Loads of room for kids in the back, nice sized boot and he can even have a LOT of fun with it too!

But I think we'll all agree that no matter what his priorities are an Avensis is never going to be the answer.

What about a Passat 1.9tdi or similar! Skoda Superb is a big car same as a passat loads of space and great value second hand Diesel too! Stay away from the avensis they give a bit of trouble! Mainly battery dying and the interior quality is awful!
