Work situation getting better!

    Today I got a job :-) After 4 months on the dole :-) And two of my friends got promoted, and a third has gotten the transfer she's wanted for a long while.

    Is the work situation finally picking up? I don't necessarily mean the economy, but maybe people are relaxing into the recession and now going back to moving jobs, hiring people etc.

    Anybody else doing better in the world of work? I hope so - rising tide lifting all boats n all that...?! :D

    yes and no...........
    85 workmates and I were made redundant very recently.
    There are some jobs in my field of work advertised so thats a good thing.
    Swings and roundabouts, but definitely better than the job market last year.
    Fingers crossed I can find a job soon.
    Congrats on you getting back to work.

    746watts - I'm really sorry to hear you were let go. But since this is SL&R, to put a positive spin on it (a) there are other options in your field of work, and you may find yourself with a job you like even more than your last, and (b) if you can, try to make the most of being on the dole! Take up a hobby you've always wanted to try, or do some volunteering, or read more - try to enjoy all this extra time on your hands! There's a part of me that will actually miss it! But wishing you a swift return to work too :) Good luck!

    Congrats!! I think things are moving along a little bit too - I got a call on Monday that went straight to voicemail - offering me a position as temp. clerical officer that I applied for nearly a year ago! I didn't get the notifcation that I had received a new voicemail message and the job is now gone!! I'm in college now anyway though and can't justify leaving my course, so I think it was the will of the Gods or something like that!!! Doh!

    But still.. it is a sign of things coming around and I really hope that by the time I finish college next December it'll be brighter again!
