Waterford's Rock Radio Station finishes tomorrow!

Zenith Classic Rock, which has been broadcasting to the South East from Waterford for the past 9 weekends, closes tomorrow (Sunday 7th March) at midnight.

The station's been very well received, with many people asking 'why can't it be on full-time?'.

Understandably, most members of the public don't understand why starting a radio station isn't the same as running any other business.

If you want to open a clothes shop, a supermarket, a PVC window company or - relevently - a newspaper, you just go right ahead and do it.

But you can't just start a radio station. You need a licence to do so, and there isn't one available.

So the guys that run Zenith, (incl. me) who are in it for the music and the service it provides, and not just out for profit, can only do this thing for 30 days a year.

On FM and AM, that is, as Zenith is always on the internet.

So - 103.8FM and 1584AM Stereo, until midnight Sunday night.

    A.

Thanks ever so much for putting together such a professional radio station, a station and sound this region so badly needs. Hopefully ye'll be back on FM soon

Listening right now. I trust you'll throw in another application for more of the same (can you apply more than once per year?)?
