    It will only help in getting the traffic from the south up to the bottleneck that starts at Greystones every morning even faster than before. The solution there is widening from Greystones to Dublin to 3 lanes motorway standard!

    Add to that, all the new housing developments in Newtownmountkennedy and Greystones will be adding more cars to the roads as public transport is neglected.
    The bottleneck on the n11 won't get better without significant improvements.

    Very true, and not just those towns undergoing significant growth, but since the M11 southern areas have been upgraded, including this scheme, a lot of developments in Wicklow town especially, Arklow and Enniscorthy will also add to this traffic.....clearly no joined up thinking with the TII and the Wicklow and Wexford councils to foresee that they will soon overload this road!

    Have they stopped earth moving?

    I was thinking the same - seems like a lot to do still, in contrast to their last update on the website.

    I think it’s fair to say that this area at the extreme southerly end of the M11 is the least developed so far. Little to no earthworks have commenced south of the Knockrathkyle bridge which opened recently. The bridge opening pictured has coincided which the Glentigue road closing for the next structure to be developed. This will open up the stretch from Knockrathkyle to the N11 tie in to be completed.

    Thanks for that....I was wondering something: What ever happened the person who was supposed to be hired as the drone photographer for this scheme?

    It’s very frustrating trying to find locations where you can get a decent view of the works! Most of the route is very much offline and the intersections with local roads are in traffic diverted areas or where it’s difficult to stop due to busy local traffic.

    This Facebook page has photos from both projects in Co Wexford and also some drone footage if you scroll back. If you search Ido Timelapse on Facebook and scroll back they also have several pieces of drone footage taken over the past year or so.

    Precast bridge sections have been transported through Enniscorthy over the last couple of days,a specialist oversized haulier with Garda escort was bringing them to the N30 section.

    A nice shiny new wheel wash has been installed where the mainline works join the existing N11 near Oylegate,things have been quiet enough down there for a while so they must be planning to ramp up the work there.

    That’s a wide span to cross the rail line and River Slaney with those steel beams. Can a single mobile crane perform that lift given the limited set up position available?

    The spans are being lifted in with a crawler crane, it's coming from Germany and being assembled on site by kavanagh crane hire.

    Those beams are just for the first section I thought? That picture gives a weird perspective,no way you could cross it with beams.

    That's about a 70 foot span (guesstimate) crossing the railway and the Slaney.

    Should this thread not be renamed Gorey to Oilgate. (maybe this has been brought up before ) Was coming up from Rosslare harbour on Fri afternoon and happened to see a construction site entrance for this road just a few hundred metres north of the Oilgate villiage boundry. They look to be coming along well.
    Hit the M50 just at 5.30pm. OMG what a mess. Crawled from just before J13 all the way to our turnoff J6. full 45 mins it took. Nice clear run on M3 and then we hit 2km tailback going into Virginia. If ever a town should be bypassed it's this one. Sorry for going off topic. I just needed a rant!!!

    Outer orbital for Dublin and M3 extension to Cavan. Thanks Santa

    There's another pier on the far side of the track now though I think. More beams on the far side of the river as well,so presumably that's their method.

    That's a good shout, as it is more logical, but the project website is www.m11gtoe.ie/

    These last 2 are from where Art Butlers used to be , near Monart .

    They're working on the deck over the river at the moment .

    I grabbed a quick (and rubbish ) pic from the road this morning .

    I spotted the sections of the arm of a crawler crane on the back of trucks parked up at the Still last Friday evening,I wonder if they were being moved up there to lift in the bridge sections.

    When one sees the work underway on such large road projects in 2017, it shows that despite the recession, the government has at least not allowed our construction capability to become so run down that we wouldn't be able to undertake such schemes for quite some time, even if the economy picks up. Instead, we should be ready to ramp up things as money becomes more available towards the 2020's - for this, we do need to scale up our construction capacity, but at least the expertise is still there.

    Thankfully, we will have at least 3 major projects underway for the forseeable future

    M17/M18 Gort-Tuam finished 09/2017 -> M7 Naas/Newbridge upgrade started 10/2017
    N25 New Ross bypass to finish 01/2019 -> N8/N25/N40 Dunkettle Interchange to start Q1 2019
    M11 Gorey/Enniscorthy to finish 2019 -> N4 Collooney/Castlebaldwin to start 2019

    N22 Macroom/Ballyvourney to start 2020
    N5 Westport-Turlough to start 2020

    N2 Slane, M21 Adare-Foynes, M28, N6 Galway pending planning permission

    I thought that the Enniscorthy bypass was supposed to finish 9/12 months before the New Ross bypass.
    Was I mistaken or have the schedules changed?

    They must have changed. The N25 New Ross bypass is scheduled to open in January 2019 and the Enniscorthy bypass in mid 2019.

    Are they going under the Oulart Rd? They're digging a mighty hole.
