Remember using the settings in Youtube videos you can speed it up to 2x.
That way it only took me only 45 mins to watch all 90 mins of those drone videos :)

Did I read somewhere it's going to be an each way road alongside the motorway from the interchange to the Oulart Rd?

Taken from the Shannon Regeneration Programme.

M11 GOREY TO ENNISCORTHY PPP SCHEME
Construction of the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy
PPP scheme has already commenced and is scheduled to
be opened by July 2019. The proposed scheme will remove
the significant volumes of through traffic that currently pass
through Enniscorthy town centre and the Templeshannon
area. Figure 3.16 presents the scheme in the vicinity of
    Enniscorthy.
The design for the M11 bypass includes a new interchange
between the new N80 link road and the M11 (Ballydawmore
Junction). At this location, motorists will be able to exit the M11
and transfer to a parallel two-way road linking to the proposed
    Tomnafunshoge Roundabout on the R744.

Yup, part of motorway standards - there has to be a parallel road along the whole route :)

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 5,054 Mod ✭✭✭✭spacetweek

That’s right, but the old N11 is the parallel route. The part being discussed above is only a short section to make it easier to get to one of the junctions and isn’t going to run alongside the whole route like they do in Texas.

What was wrong with an exit and entry at the roundabout?
Seems excessive to my untrained eye.

Saw this advertised on Indeed, the search criteria was set to Wexford.

    https://ie.indeed.com/m/viewjob?jk=e095cf6d1b96d3d6&from=serp

"The project will be in the region of ?300m and involve major structures, earthworks, construction of a new bridge, carriageways, junctions and over / underpasses.

The project has an opportunity for a Land Surveyor who will take a key role in supporting the lead Land Surveyor. You will oversee junior members of the surveying team and ensure the land surveying duties on the project are being delivered to the high standards"

Will it be the continuation of the bypass all the way to Rosslare?

Took a spin out to Scoby Hil. I tried to get a look at the other overpass crossing the old N30 but they were working flat out on it until 8pm. They're doing a 13 to 14 hour day on it now according to one of the lads working there.

In fairness they may as well take advantage of the long and dry days now - there'll be plenty of short and wet days in a few months ;)

5.30 am starts at the Finchogue interchange.

I was told that on some sections they are laying tarmac so fast that the supplier is struggling to keep up.Its amazing how much the work speeds up when the weather is good.

So I went for a recovery ride on the bike today and took a few photos on my phone.

Starting at the new narrow bridge at the Southern end, Scurlocksbush.

The view south to end of M11, new roundabout to be built to left of house in the distance

All these are within 6 - 8km as the crow flies but about a 30km round trip from Enniscorthy to get photos! Some parts almost completed, others a long way to go.

I saw that, the scratched out roundabout is very close to the new bridge it looks very strange.

Is that supposed to be an open road?

The M11 at rathnew hill has a road next to it but there is no access and several gates along it's length.

A lot of earthworks are going on at present, many of the bridges are really taking shape, as has been the bugbear of this project from day one, photo access continues to be extremely difficult. The jobs worth security guards don't help the situation. I tried cadging a lift on one of the Mc Guires lorries but no chance. Work has finally started on the roundabout where the N30 link road crosses the Kiltealy road. The roundabouts are really behind everything else.

It's an active construction site, with an attitude like that your best kept off active sites.

I know the guy driving the truck but they're not allowed to carry passengers, no harm in asking. The times I wanted to take photos was when the site was finished for the night. With your high horse attitude are you a security guard on the site?

Alternative route for that stretch of the M11 is via Wicklow Town (the relief road) and on down towards the Beehive. The N11 never ran along there but the original N11 has been obliterated along that stretch.

    Maybe because you'd be trespassing???

Trespassing & Health and Safety Hazards

To the general public, construction sites are intriguing places but they also pose a safety risk.

There are many reasons why unauthorised persons must not trespass on construction sites.

Entering a construction site, even when there is no active construction taking place, can be extremely dangerous. There may be ditches, culverts, supply lines and other hazards that the general public may not be aware of and which could be unsafe to people unfamiliar with construction sites walking, playing or riding on the site.

Children in particular may be attracted to construction sites due to the presence of machinery and the topography of the land which can appear attractive to playing action and adventure games.

On the M11EJV project there are several areas which pose a risk to trespassers and can in some cases lead to injury as the person involved is not aware of the risks and hazards present.

Construction sites may also include specific areas which are being protected from construction activities because of their cultural or environmental significance. We are taking considerable measures to ensure that any species of plants and animals requiring protection are protected while the site works are taking place. Unauthorized persons could adversely impact on mitigation measures to protect species of plants and wildlife requiring protection.

The public is reminded that the land being developed for the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy project is not open to the public and that trespassers may be charged if found on the land without permission.

There have been many incidents in the past on other sites involving trespassers suffering injury or worse. This is not something we wish to happen to our neighbours and friends during the construction of this road.

For your own safety, remember – construction sites are no trespassing zones.

Jesus the world has gone fierce serious, its an open field building site not a nuclear or bio hazard site. Once there is no machinery moving its probably safer than a regular domestic build.
Also remember, as has been stated it is a active site which in turn means they duty of care to their staff so they have to minimise hazards via barriers and signage too.

Now the trespassing part or climbing up bridges and structures is another thing but if you're only taking photos of groundworks it's hardly crime of the century. This hiding behind H&S and dressing it up as extremely dangerous is bullsh!t.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 12,748 Mod ✭✭✭✭JupiterKid

The refusal of the contractors to let anyone remotely near the N11 site, plus a bare faced refusal to put up regular updates is frankly insulting and patronising to the public. In fact I intend to lodge a complaint with TII/Wex CC or whoever is involved.

It just isn't bloody good enough!

    Utter shame on them!!

The contrast with the M17/18 or even the N25 New Ross bypass could not be more stark.

Really? Maybe you should take a visit to the site in question, work was stopped for three days on two bridges in December because workers were working without harnesses, I was only wanting to take a few pictures. When the moyne overpass was completed I parked on the public road and walked back to take a few pics to put up on here and Mr bulldog in his little van tried to stop me, I wasn't anywhere near the works.
    P.S. I'm not a child...

If we weren't so litigious in this country the contractors might be able to be a bit more relaxed. People putting themselves in danger and then trying to blame someone else when an accident happens, is unfortunately all too common.

Having said that, from what I'm reading here, they seem to be a tad excessive on this project compared to other ones.
